Huh? All this brooha wbout the whole Montreux 3-shows fiasco (!) with big analog cameras and then settling for HD etc and he is still being asked (!) for a deal? I mean: he hasn't put the DVD in production by own initiative? My guess, assuming these things are more or less true: He is bored with Montreux and has already moved on. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I know he gets bored soon with his material lately (lotusflower being an example)...but on the other hand...the lame live at the aladdin las vegas was released 8 months later (recorded dec 15 2002, released auu 19 2003)....Maybe he just needs some time 2 edit out all those brilliant performances from the actual DVD....grrrrr...The Prince of Editing.

I think Montreux on DVD would be a great idea! Prince in action in Europe, kicking ass! A DVD is a great way to remember good times and in Prince's case further his legendary status.
A DVD is a treasure to fans and a testament to the afterworld. [Edited 11/23/09 15:04pm]

If he understood that he would not treat those productions as he did. Assuming the theories are right, the Montreux DVD, if he will release one at all, will contain a cut-up set of songs. Not one complete show or even two complete shows. Why then did he do two takes of certain songs? He's too critical of himself, if interested in this project at all except for monetary reasons. Montreux was 2 shows btw yeah but first they wanted to do 3 shows with 3 different bands like in LA, and Prince wanted it to be filmed by analog cameras (I can't remember which ones) but Claude Nobs convinced him to get it filmed by HD cams, because the others were too expensive.

As in: `Why not give it another try?` There's plenty of room for improvement, but perhaops he doesn't yet grasp the size of that room. Just put the two shows on a DVD. One disc per show. Edit the stuff nicely. Nice camera changes, no MTV-style crap. Do NOT leave out anything. Optionally add some scene stuff with shots of fans before the shows. Market the discs through lotusflow3r and later through the normal chains. In 2010 release the bluray version if he still thinks that is worthwhile. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Hey, I was talking to a Swiss guy the other day and when I mentioned that I was a fan of Prince he told me that he had actually worked at the concert in Montreux. His job (lucky guy) was to hold the cable for one of the cameras. He said that Prince wanted to film it for release to DVD. Here's hoping.

He didn't say anything about a DVD at the shows? Not before show #1, not before show #2. We had to learn this from the usual rumour circuit. So who does he communicate to? Montreux Syndrome, similar to Stockholm Syndrome. Fans can expect little to no chance of a release but will continue to remain loyal to Mr Prince, he has kidnapped their hearts but they still cherish and support him. Most will even resist rescue. Releasing the hostages is not required but releasing the DVD is vital for one's survival
