17 Days- Joy Division

There is a piano melody in Joy Division's "The Eternal" (at around 51 seconds) that always reminds me of the keyboard hook in "17 Days" slowed down. It drove me crazy for years until I connected the two. They aren't the same, but has anyone else ever thought they were similar?

I find JD quite depressing. Oh wait, didn't one of them commit suicide?

Yes, Ian Curtis - his lyrics were beautiful..but depressing. I can't never get tired of the "Unknown Pleasures" album. The only album which is more depressing is "Pornography" by The Cure.

believe it or not I lived in the house next door to Ian when he hung himself. I was around 11 at the time. He really was a lovely guy and would always smile and say hi if he saw me going off to school.

Ah.. The Cure. Brings back college days memories. Somehow I found them very funny.

Wow ...Must be devastating, for a kid.
I think I saw a film about them.
Don't know the title anymore, but it was by Michael Winterbottom ... I think.
24 hour partypeople, or something?

I kinda vaguely (if I squint my ears) see where you're coming from. wink

Love JD. New Order also had their moments, but their worst was pretty terrible.

certainly was, was scary at night having to pass the window looking into the kitchen where he did it. The biopic on Ian was done on location, was weird seeing our old house in the movie.
