My love to Vashti and my money to Al. Thank you all for being my pal. (liner notes appreciation) 1999 was the most intriguing liner notes to me. Especially the line:
"My love to Vashti and my money to Al. Thank you all for being my pal." That seemed a way off sentence for someone with the then enigma vibe he had at that time. And who the funk was Vashti??? I now the background of the queen Vashti but wasn't sure thats who he meant. I was thinking it wa sosmeone in the entourage etc.

There was a thread not too long ago--I think in Associated Artists--that talked about Vashti being Susan, which totally blew my mind. All this time, I had thought Vashti was just a nickname for Vanity. If I can find that thread, I'll link to it here.

Susan?! Wow. If true, he really had an affinity for her even though others came first (at that time).

That was back in the days when he was so mysterious and silent that any word directly from him was precious. I always thought his liner notes showed the seldom seen vulnerable side of him.

Maybe that was who Al was . He was thanking his album cover photographers. Awesome. It took 25 years or so but now I know
