Prince's name mentioned during Monique's show on BET,(11/11 & 11/12) twice this week Okay, so I don't normally watch Monique's show, but last night (11/11), when I saw that Dr. Cornel West and George Clinton were guests, I decided to watch it, and during the conversation he was having with Monique, when Dr. West was talking about great musicians, Dr. West mentioned Prince as one of the musical geniuses of today. Later in the show, Dr. West was having a great time breaking it down, dancing to George Clinton and his band during the show.
Now tonight, (11/12), Van Hunt was the musical guest on Monique's show. So after Van Hunt performed his song, he sat down to talk on the couch with Monique. Monique immediately said to Van, that he keeps getting compared to the purple one, and she asked him how he felt about that, and Van said "I don't have any problem with that, but I don't know how he (Prince) may feel about it". Then he (Van) said that the comparison to Prince, works for him. So basically, it seems Van Hunt took that as a compliment, and certainly has no problem being compared to Prince. That's true. Van's also been compared to Al Green as well. I liked his album that he had out I believe in 2006. As a matter of fact, for some reason, his voice tonight sounded like he was struggling. I've seen him perform on tv live before, and he sounded better when I heard him sing back then. [Edited 11/12/09 21:39pm] | |
