Has PRINCE lost the funk?

Having experienced some of the funkiest trax by prince such as
Lady Cab Driver, DMSR, Gett Off, Sexy MF, Head, Let's Work, Head, Erotic City,
All The Critics Love U In New York, Automatic, Controversy, America, Feel U Up,
Irresistible Bitch, Mountains, AnotherLover, The Black Album, Exodus,
Housequake, Lalala Hehehee, Shockadelica,We Can Funk etc
Now to my question

Has PRINCE Lost the funk? As we know prince is a funk fiend, Prince main influence are funk musicians funkadelic parliament sly stone Miles Davis EW&F etc.

Should he deliver a killer double futurefunk album with no james brown influences?

What new set? lotus flower, mpls or the live set?
Live sets I don't have access to as for lotus flower, mpls I don't consider that
funky enough.

He's not only lost it, he's surgically removed it from most of his past songs when he plays them live.

The Black Album was written in 1987 or 1988. 3121 was released just under 20 years later. BIG difference.

Let me get one thing straight I love prince's new music
but I believe you should educate yourself about the funk before you come out with comments like that.
Do you believe prince doesn't love the funk check out his 02 arena concert song lists sly stone songs billy cobham stratus song, songs from funkadelic-parliament
songs, stevie wonders superstition etc.
I also mentioned a future funk album not something old.
A futurefunk album would be big in clubs.

Funk with no JB influences isn't really possible.

Funk with no JB influences isn't really possible.

Funk doesn't revolve around james brown, others have contributed as well.
Miles davis funkadelic parliament sly stone etc
That's why I said no james brown influence. That's too safe for prince
he needs to take some risks musically.

Feel Better , Feel Good, Feel Wonderful!

I don’t know what U thought when U spit in my face
But this dimension ain’t the time or the place
I don’t know who told U U could stand next 2 me
But I got a guitar that could part a sea
Don’t mean no disrespect I aint tryin’ 2 brag
But it might be the same 1 that tapped on the crag
And it brought forth water that quenched Ur thirst
And we’ll keep feeding ya, but first things first!

Feel Better (Feel Better) , Feel Good, (Feel Good), Feel Wonderful

FUNK!!!!! fro excited party jester grandpa sperm jedi fish foodnow

I think he's just put it away for a while. At least I hope.

I really don't want to think he considers MPLSound real funk. (Then again, I don't want to think he considers it "the Minneapolis sound" either...)

No, but funk as we know it only originated from him.

It certainly doesn't revolve around Prince, whom is merely 'funky'. I do not consider Prince to be a truly great funk artist at all.

the funk is all about the one....the accent on the one. james probably did it the best...but who cares what the funk "is"..it's what u can make it. and prince brought the funk 2 another level baby

it's like riding a bike he will never loose it...even if prince chooses more r&B, jazz, or rock sounding stuff for his albums...the funk allways comes out in his live stuff
