... you know, it does come to a point where we all are not going to agree on if Prince has lost his "so called" funk edge and perhaps lost his rock edge and is just doing elevator music. Would everyone agree with that, probably not.

It's a damn shame I missed out on one of the most debated topic. I would have loved to have joined in the debate. Prince is funky live but on record he has cut out the nastiness of the funk. Feel good feel better feel wonderful can't touch his his funk from the past but that doesn't mean it's crap. keep cool! the funk is there but he could be funkier dirtier make the dancer dance. | |

2 things:
1. Anyone who has seen/heard Prince live lately (or ever) know that he is as full of honest to God funk and he has ever been. 2. "3121" is only from 2006 (still recent in my book) and is one of the funkiest songs Prince has ever done. Even more so live. "New Power slide...." |

 There isn't a Funk song without James Brown influence, and that includes Erotic City, which uses an even-note syncopated guitar rhythm and it works around the one-three beat instead of the two-four. It doesn't get any more James Brown than that. | |
