If you can, find footage from Prince's first Arsenio appearance. IIRC that's one of the times Prince and Tony "danced" like that I don't remember which song it was tho. daddy pop To Sir, with Love

Imago said: Do you think his music and religion would be different significantly?
The reason why I postulate that it might be different is that it's very obvious when Prince is being interviewed that we never get to see the 'real Prince'. He's extremely guarded, and doesn't like to reveal his darker side during interviews. It's often about God and such. Even during the Oprah interview, just after some tragic moments, he went ahead with the interview but wasn't really open. I wouldn't blame him of course--who wants to talk about such things. But none the less, Prince has over the course of much of his life been very guarded about his personal and private life. Where he is explicit is when discussing fantasy (during his younger years) , and religion. I think Prince would probably have a very complex approach to his own homosexuality (hypothetically speaking) in that much of his persona is built around machismo mixed with feminine energy. But as a homosexual, Prince would probably try to mix his gheyness with something more butch. Prince seems to enjoy the 'gemini' combination of juxtapositions. Being gay and feminine would probably seem very dull to him. But then again, it's not too beyond reasoning that Prince would remain in the closet and play up his feminine attributes as an 'act' to deflect attention from his gheyness. Come to think of it, Prince may not even approach his religion or persona one iota different if he were ghey. he read this shit clutching the pearls they fell on the floor and broke! his eyes filled with rage and his mascara becoming runny.....his beef jerkey treats stash dwindling to nothing.im scared.

I think he would have been just about the same in the Dirty Mind period at least... I do think though that his lyrics would have gradually become less and less gender-specific, just like George Michael's lyrics did. I also think he probably wouldn't have joined the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I think P would still do the same types of music. He very much sees himself as a spiritual leader and often occupies the role of preacher in his songs (for this reason, I cringe whenever I hear the ONAL versions of "Rainbow Children" and "Anna Stesia").
I think, given his penchant for denying well-established things (the horrible tragedy with his child, for example), there's reason to believe that he is the type to keep such things extremely close to the vest. I think he would go the Liberace/MJ route and continue to perform songs about women. Who knows? That might be what he's done all along.

check some of the replies in this thread... alot of people, apparently... - Does he display his gay-ness to openly? I.e.: with clothing, gestures, whatever... - Does he talk about it too much? - Does he take part in demonstrations, talkshows, etc about the subject? - Did he write about it? - Donate money to the gay cause? - Did you listen to his lyrics? [Bambi...] - Are you forced to be too close to him? Etc. Not all of us live in the US of A. Thus not all of us are influenced by the state of mind that the majority is exposed to over there. I am not saying that 'coming out of the closet' is easy over here in Europe, but most people are aware that 'they' are humans with rights, too. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... I personally dont believe he is, simply because he looks and acts so gay. Hes an enigma, a walking question mark. He loves it! He loves that people wonder about him. Plus, women love him and his feminine side, so why would he act masculine?
Look at george Michael. The guy was considered a sex god. Leather jacket, tight jeans, studded leather boots, five oclock shadow...women drooled over this guy.. then BAM! Hes gay! So now he has slimmed down, acts a little feminine, suits and ties etc etc. He completely changed when he came out of the closet. I believe Prince would be the same way. If he had been gay this whole time, he would probaby try to hide it more and not act so feminine and dress the way he has and does. IF it does turn out that he is gay, we wont know it till he is dead and gone, or else his career will end up like George's did. Remember...Contraversy sales!

after seeing heels and fuscia suits- my mother thinks he's gay - my father things he's gay and I have friends who think that he turned himself into a woman just as they think MJ did
I on the other hand do not think so- I've always said that he oozes sex even when he's not "being sexy"- I think he is a very sensual person and flamboyant at times- but gay- NO what is gay? am I a gay woman if I don't where heels or dresses? Are you a gay man if you dress to the nines all the time? if a man's hair is too "pretty"- he's gay if a woman cuts her hair short (boy cut)- she's gay gay gay gay gay gay gay granny is gay big poppy is gay brother is gay sister is gay gay gay gay GHEY!!!!! You'll notice how chilly mornings can be, especially in December and January. Bars out in the sticks never seem to close if there are still people capable of ordering another drink. You can pretty much get whatever you want here whenever you want it. I wonder if there are any of those slightly creepy dudes walking around with their flip books with pics of British Expat butthole asking foreigners if they're interested in sleeping with their 'brother' or 'father'. It should be mandatory that before anybody posts on this thread they be made to watch the Glamster Glam video. a) we were discussing 'ghey', presumably gay, inclinations of P, his works, etc. b) slight 'bi' notions do not fit the subject really well c) why do you have to see erotic/sexual hints in everything? It's definitely not referring to one's religion or favourite food. It's referring to how one's sexual tints shade one's art. At least that's how I see it. I don't think George Michael's lyrics became less gender specific, I think they became more gay. I thought 'Careless Whisper' was about guilt over being closeted and the fear of being exposed. Along with Wham!'s videos, that solidified my impression of him as gay. 'Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1,' he was definitely a gay man. 'Freedom 90' was clearly his hatred of the hypocrisy he was living which seems to have been fueled by Sony. 'Older' was unequivocally about the experience of being gay. It's my favorite George Michael album. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I think he is gay and living in denial because of religion. If he ever acted upon it, it was probably during the earlier years but he probably had a damn stack of confidentiality contracts sitting on the nightstand by his bed for his men to sign. Nowadays though, he's so far gone in his religion that I doubt he acts upon it. Andy is a four letter word.
