Damn, how much speculating about Prince being 'ghey' can be done over the course of 10 years?
Give it a rest. If he's ghey, so the eff what. On what planet does this continue to be relevant? I mean damn broken record all up and through...

Ghey is a strong word for most, and folks don't want to talk about it. So just replace it with some other word if that helps. Say, 'black' or something. lawd.

ThreadBare said: I think P would still do the same types of music. He very much sees himself as a spiritual leader and often occupies the role of preacher in his songs (for this reason, I cringe whenever I hear the ONAL versions of "Rainbow Children" and "Anna Stesia").
I think, given his penchant for denying well-established things (the horrible tragedy with his child, for example), there's reason to believe that he is the type to keep such things extremely close to the vest. I think he would go the Liberace/MJ route and continue to perform songs about women. Who knows? That might be what he's done all along. Do you believe MJ was doing this? I actually sense that MJ did. Prince is something different. If he is doing it, he's thrown a very thick, heavy, blanket of religion on top of it, and certainly practiced his mannerisms much better. I approach this subject asking myself how I would approach being famous. I think if I were famous I'd have to come 'out' because there would be too many skeletons in my closet that I couldn't hide. But Prince became famous very early in life (17/18) so he wouldn't have that many pre-fame skeletons. Perhaps it would be be easier, and easier to build an entire fantasy world around an 'image' and devote your life to it. That being said, whatever his sexuality, I'm beginning to doubt that he would change anything musically, or even publicly. He's certainly got the perfect disguise, dressed up like a peacock all the time. Would a gay man dress like that? Contrary to popular belief, hell no. . [Edited 12/31/09 11:45am]

ThreadBare said: Imago said: Do you believe MJ was doing this? I actually sense that MJ did. Yep. I remember when I saw MJ kiss Lisa Marie on MTV, before he did it there was this "And they said it wouldn't last" comment he made in a lower octave than normal, all 'butched up sounding'. I've been hit on by enough men to know when some fucker is pretending to be masculine and when you take them home they end up putting on their damned Kimonos and turn on the Streisand. I immediately sense this from MJ. Then when he appeared this year to announce his 'This is It' tour, the silly 'walk' he did and the terrible butched up voice he did immediately set off signals again. There's nothing wrong with being gay of course. It was just that if you're going to try and act 'straight' as a gay man, practice, practice, practice. It was interesting seeing him fall apart several times on the Bashir documentary, and when he'd finally lose his cool, the queen came bursting out like a shower of rainbow skittles. Prince didn't really take this route though, so it would be much more plausible that Prince is actually straight. Who knows? One thing is certain--Prince is much more 'self-aware' than MJ. MJ appears to have been stuck in some Freudian psycho-sexual early stage, while Prince seems to have evolved with time to perfect his 'act' gay or straight. What irony is that if MJ had been straight, I think his music would have remained the same. I don't think it would have changed one bit. I do feel his personal life would have ended up much much different though.

Imago said: Do you think his music and religion would be different significantly?
The reason why I postulate that it might be different is that it's very obvious when Prince is being interviewed that we never get to see the 'real Prince'. He's extremely guarded, and doesn't like to reveal his darker side during interviews. It's often about God and such. Even during the Oprah interview, just after some tragic moments, he went ahead with the interview but wasn't really open. I wouldn't blame him of course--who wants to talk about such things. But none the less, Prince has over the course of much of his life been very guarded about his personal and private life. Where he is explicit is when discussing fantasy (during his younger years) , and religion. I think Prince would probably have a very complex approach to his own homosexuality (hypothetically speaking) in that much of his persona is built around machismo mixed with feminine energy. But as a homosexual, Prince would probably try to mix his gheyness with something more butch. Prince seems to enjoy the 'gemini' combination of juxtapositions. Being gay and feminine would probably seem very dull to him. But then again, it's not too beyond reasoning that Prince would remain in the closet and play up his feminine attributes as an 'act' to deflect attention from his gheyness. Come to think of it, Prince may not even approach his religion or persona one iota different if he were ghey. Who f**kin' care the guy makes great music Nobody talks about Jamie Foxx being gay and that dude make horrible songs called "Blame it on the alcohol"

No way in the world - the man like's his women too much even if he is supressing it with his beliefs.
Sure like most people he may have had an "experience " at some point in his life. I'm gay and I can tell you my gaydar does not go off with Prince at all.
