The 'time for jazz to die' phrase would be an interesting basis for an interview question for P....

When the 1999 album first came out, I thought the line "it's time for jazz to die" was "it's time for Chas and Di". They were in the new a lot back then, and I apparently had some wax buildup.

I think you mean Chas & Dave. They were at the top of their game back then.

Hey Ernest

I am curious. I totally agree with you on NEWS and mostly agree with you on Rainbow Children. (Lyrics/message aside there a few tunes I enjoy).

I am a little more curious about Xpectation though. Did you think it was all crap? I found that to a be more of a hit and miss affair where a few songs were pretty groovy amidst the dreck.

I guess what I'm saying is, I can at least listen to parts of Xpectation and derive enjoyment. Not so much on NEWS.

Sorry if this is too OT.

ever ask jazz experts about NEWS or Xpectation?

i have played both for them, without telling them it was Prince

wouldn't you know they said it was great and then when I told them it was Prince, they were amazed

go figure

Also to note: It's one week until Janet's release of Number Ones. Her site has been redesigned for the AH-kashun too: http://www.janetjackson.com/

I love the image of Squirrelgrease watching a youtube vid of Chas & Dave belting out 'Rabbit' or 'Snooker Loopy'

Still, better than N.E.W.S.
