Does prince need to emulate Madonna ?

While there is no question prince has now acheived legendary status he no longer remains relevant in the same manner that Madonna has in terms of the charts. Madonna has cleverly changed her production styles every few years and has always been a mainstay on billboard.Maybe prince should expand his horizons and collaberate with a producer like timbaland or David guetta.

At first I read your thread as "does Prince need to stimulate Madonna" lol

No. Prince is Prince. Timbaland and Guetta would make his music the same crap which is on today's radios.

Timbaland is borrowing heavily and adding to a lot of what prince revolutionized in the 80s. I think if they combined forces they could create something special.

Charts and radio play= music label (example WB)
Madonna all though entertaining is far less relevant then Prince is or will ever be. You must keep in mind hannah montana cds out sold madonna cds-Does that make Hannah Montana more relevant than Madonna? No, it does not. Madonna is relevant for her performance art and dance beats. Hannah Montana is popular with the kiddies. But Prince is a highly respected musician who created a sound that many artists and musicians have used and will continue to use. And since most music these days are made by computer programers, it will be real music by real musicians that will turn pop radio around. Madonna doesn't set the music trend she genuinely follows it. As for pop radio Prince's Blacksweat had the "current" pop radio friendly sound mixed with the old james brown flow-should have been a top 10 hit. But Prince didn't want to spend his hard earn money for that. Yes, I said it, you have 2 pay to get played on radio. Unless your on their label and they own the master tapes.(see Prince's WB catalog)
99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Prince doesn't do payola - even though the powers say it doesn't happen.

as for prince stimulating madonna, i'm pretty sure he's done that already!

prince could be #1 tomorrow with whatever song he would pick off any
of his recent albums.

it's well known that he 'bought' the #1 slot for The Most Beautiful
Girl In The World back in the day. so what's to stop him from doing
it again?

the simple fact that he doesn't care anymore. he's been on top of the
chart and he's over it.

"i've seen the mountain top and it ain't what you say".

i do wish, however, that he would experiment a bit more with his music
these days. it's still there, but over all his music has become much
more contemporary adult sounding.

that's not a bad thing as such because whatever he does, it's always
superbly executed and intricately detailed.

it wouldn't hurt him to change things up a bit more now and then tho,
kinda like madonna.

although, imo, madonna has been doing the same thing over and over and
over again since "ray of light", with a lesser copy each time round.

by now her sound has become more boring and repetitive than prince has
ever been, even in his worst periods. people still call her inovative,
but to me, it doesn't sound like she covered new ground in about 10 yrs.

I was just recently thinking that I'd like a prince re-mix album, though.

I'd love it if he just got a couple of the funky young cats and said "here's my catalogue... do what you will"

madonna is a talentless hag and so is timbaland with his lame repetitive computer made beats

it would be pathetic and embarrassing to see P hook up with the latest
hot 'producer' of the week just to appeal to the kids

who cares about charts anyway ?

Prince hasn't set any music trend since Parade era 1986

Madonna does and has set trends into the 2000s as far as level of performance: some of the biggest pop female artists emulate her.

I would have for Prince to get a producer like Timberland, I even hate when Prince has his songs 'remixed'

The one area I wish he would emulate Madonna is in performance and visual media.

There is a reason her Sticky Sweat tour has sold 400 million

People can say she isn't relevant or doesn't have talent all they want, she's got something. And as far as relevant is concerned she was very instrumental in challanging media/musics idea of women, power, sex etc etc

Even Prince new she had something enough to want her to star in Graffiti Bridge, and Madonna had enough sense to know that movie was a career destroyer.

To be honest, the idea of Prince working with Timbaland isn't so ridiculous boxed I think the two of them could come up with a truly amazing dance album.

No!!! Prince should never copy what Madonna does. She is simply a chart whore and has been doing the same thing for the last 10/15 years: pop/dance tunes & some ballads now & again. And she's definitely no innovator, she just simply changes her look now & then. It makes me cringe when i see some footage of her in concert; she simply does all that symetrical dancing with her young troop with giant video screens all over the place, & when she's strumming on the guitar!! URGH!!!!! She's no musical genius, thats for sure, she's just been the best of all at using her limited talent.

I agree with hotwithyou, Prince does fine on his own. Anyway Madonna Sexual
stage present imitate Prince. Prince needs good PR people, Lighting direction so he doesn't have to call out the direction while he's singing. But when you see him in Concert his amazing.

That's not a 1/2 bad idea. I believe if P worked with a few producers, if anyone Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis could assist him with a chart topper. P's so off center when it comes to his albums. There's different styles of music on 1 album let alone the 3 he has out now. (Lotusflow3r)
