Xpectation - 2 CD or not 2 CD?

Xpectation:
A. Should be released officially as a cd.
B. The downloads are enough and Prince should just move on to his next project.
Which do you favor?

B.
Xpectation won't sell as an official CD. He's probably gonna make it available as a CD through NPG Retail one day, though.
His new project should be a nice little normal album, with 12-15 songs, all of them with lyrics, but no JW crap, distributed by a normal record company, with singles, videos, promo TV appearances, B-Sides (ahh... B-Sides...) and a world tour with priority seating for NPGMC members.
Just dreaming.

How about a version without the static cutting in?

I believe that "Xpectation" will be released for the mere fact that Candy and Vanessa are contributing their tallents. It would be quite a move commercially and would sell to the listeners of Mae's music and "Dulfer's"; he'll get the "neo-classical" listeners and the "jazz" listeners. I think it would be QUITE successful if it were released.

Not to sound selfish, but I don't care either way, because I already got it as a member. If it does sell through NPG retail or another outlet with official packaging, I would buy it. I think it's an AWESOME album. You could think of it as an entire B-side instrumental to the Rainbow Children. smile

I would at least like to see a cd copy available thru the NPGMC. I wouldn't be surprised at a commercial release particularly with Dufler's & Mae's involvement. This could be promoted as a super-group kinda deal.

I think Xpectation is great that Prince is attempting to venture into a new field of music, but with the exception of a few songs, the cd is quite unsophisticated. You compare Xpectation with any known Jazz artist and it pales in comparison. That being said, I am excited and glad he released it to his members of the NPGMC, but that's as far as he should take it.

I think he should release as an official cd with improved sound and maybe a few more cuts.It could get lots of attentionfrom jazz mags and I think it may do better than expected. The Madhouse records were pretty popular with black listeners and he marketed them with a sense of fun on the covers of the cd's and in the videos.I hear th "jazz" stations and his music is more jazzy than a lot of stuff being passed off as "real" jazz. Now,I olove "Xpectation" and I love the song,"Xenophobia",but,of course,it does't compare to Miles and Coltrane. No one compares to those cats!!However,Prince is tapping into something that Miles started long ago.And even some of the sounds I hear reminds me of Miles'"On the Corner" stuff.
