I thought Paris was respectful? falloff

Prince thanked the fans for showing respect during the slower songs, and I guess that makes for a better listening experience for everyone at the venue - and beyond!

And also he said something about they dont record the concert on their camera phones then put it up on youtube with that horrible sound. Unlike Americans..As he said.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

wow i'm amazed that a free, LOSSLESS version of this show is already available. crazy. THANKS whoever u are cuz prince sure as hell aint puttin it out. audience-recordings have really come a long way. there was once a day when i really couldn't tolerate them, but this sounds good.

the show sounds pretty fun and the audience sounds they're having a good time. i do find all the covers a little perplexing though. they're obviously played extremely well but damn prince, u have SO MUCH ORIGINAL SHIT YOU COULD PLAY.

another complaint is the vocals. i thought he was focusing on them these days. he just sounds really rough. maybe he had a sore throat. thank god for those back up singers because not only are they fucking great, he needs them.

also, harmonica guy needs to play about a 3/4 less than he does. he's great but overused. he's like the new Najee.

"ol skool co" sounds great as an opener. the live version is sooo much better than the album version. backup singers SMOKE this. "crimson" is nice. too.

"girl" was a nice gesture since it's so rarely played but it sounds nothing like the released version and not in a good way. i never really cared for the song personally (it's obv. for the ladies) but this version is a snooze fest, and a missed opportunity.

and then he's gotta start his ignorant, homophobic shit again. he's singing "girlllll" and he says, "u say 'boyyyy'." so he starts the call and response with "girlllll..." and everyone (men AND women) shouts "boyyyy." and then he's gotta ruin it with an admonishment, "just the GIRLS sing that..." (cue laughter) after all of the little shitty remarks he's made about gay people in recent years, this really rubbed me the wrong way - even if he was just being playful.

"forever in my life" was nice to hear with a full band. kinda brought me back to the SOTT film except even more of a sing along. he should make this a staple and ditch some covers.

i'm not convinced of the whole 'let's sing the words to "lefreak" with "sexy dancer" as the background music' thing. but u cant beat that groove. it's still smokes. the "all day" chant sounds really good with it, too.

"7" is one of my personal faves but it was shortened so as to include "come together." LOSE THE COVERS. i'd sooo much rather hear a full version of "7."

"The Bird," "Jungle Love," and "Glamorous Life" were interesting to hear since the original artists werent there. i can't remember hearing Prince sing them completely solo before. They're obvious crowdpleasers but without The Time and Sheila, they kinda come off as yet MORE covers.

"3121" is another personal fave but this version sounds like it's missing some urgency. goes on way too long and just doesnt really hit the spot. and damn that yonnet dude! does EVERY song need a harmonica solo?

hate to be a debbie downer but "Purple Rain" sounds odd too. i don't know if it was bad mixing or what but i dont remember the high hat part being so loud. it sounded weird. and then he starts the "ooo ooo's" after the first verse, less than 3 minutes into the song, but then goes into the other verses later, dragging it on for like 12 minutes. maybe u had to be there.

did anyone who was there really LOVE it? i can see why people say he's losing it after listening to a show like this. but then u contrast it with shows like montreux and even the little one-off performances on french radio and tv, and it's like a whole different person.

Whoever mentioned Dreamer... uh... this version sucks. It's about a minute long and he sounds really bad one it. Plus the tempo is super laid back and slow. Dunno how you could call that a good performance for P.

Anyone else thought he heard Tony M on I Want You Back ?? :-S turns out it's Shelbey . stay away from the rapping, please???

For the rest: thumbs up for this recording! I kind of like the audience presence , gives more of an impression of actually being in the crowd, instead of the sometimes too sterile perfect audience recordings

Anyone else think that Forever In My Life combined with the ''if you like it better put a ring on it' line from single ladies is some kind of statement towards Bria?

Fist of all, I agree with you on he ''Girl'' comment. Such a daring thing to say after last weeks thread though confused biggrin

the 7-come together combination worked quite well at coachella but here it's just boring

and ehm, isn't Prince the ORIGINAL artist on all those songs?

Hot thinking!! I know she gets a lot of trash here on the org, but if they're hooking up, I wish them the best. I like the idea of Prince being in love.

Fuck this version of Shhh is the first bad version of the song I have heard. Lame solo (did his guitar cut out) and it's waaaaay too fast.

Yes, the guitar cut out during at the beginning of the first guitar solo.
Surprisingly, Prince keeps smiling during the technical interruption and when the second Fender Stratocaster came, the song restarts correctly.
I haven't listen again the song but during the concert it doesn't sound like a bad version to me, sure armed by technical issues but not a bad version.

I believe this version is a try as Dreamer was played with the Telecaster not with the Stratocaster. At first, i was dissapointed by the shortness of the song but it took it as a try, like the slowed down version of Dolphin (Le Bataclan 2002). Maybe even Prince was disappointment by the arrangement and cut short the song?

I love it along with the Radio broadcast this is the best Prince stuff I have listened to for a while. Forever in my Life is just amazing.....

Yep, listened to the complete recording twice now and I think it's the highlight of the show. Pity the audience is just a bit too loud but it's just amazing. I 've always loved the 87 live version but this is just as good, the heavier drum pattern(loop?) fits very well. The addition of the Beyonce song is nice

that defeats the whole purpose of FLAC ; mp3 is compressed audio ,; therefore inferior in sound quality

there's a free program called Burrrn which enables you to burn FLAC to a cd straightaway without having to convert
