So go ahead and preach world peach but understand that in order to come even remotely close to that one would need to accept and respect every single person’s believes, whether they believe in a god or not. I agree. She has a borderline arrogant attitude when someone isn't ass kissing Prince, or (especially) his JW beliefs. Frankly, I think JW's are a cult. There was even a kid on Big Brother this year who had not talked to his parents in NINE YEARS because when he came out, his parents ex-communicated him. A PARENT, not the child. It's one thing for a kid to go off and "be who they are", and buck the system. But when your own parents disown you for something like that...it's despicable at best. There's a huge amount of suicides among young people who are gay who SO fear their parents rejection that somehow death is a better option. It's tragic, and it's evil at work. So Ladychel, before you go acting self-righteous and get called out AGAIN because you think you have some kinship w/ Prince and his religiously separatist beliefs, then you go ahead. But try airing out your brain under that yak weave next time and THINK who you might be effecting in a negative way with your judgments. With all that said, let it be known I'm a born-again Christian, I've never been a JW, and I am gay. I faced the same fears that a lot of young people did when I wanted to come out. Luckily, I lived through it. I lived through the Independent Baptist church I was raised in (which my grandfather started eons ago and grew to 1000 members or more), and their judgments even when I just got an EAR RING. They ignored me as if I never existed yet they've known me since I was a new born. I survived it. A lot of us did. God doesn't teach hate, or judgment, he teaches love, he teaches acceptance. The world would be a better place if we had more love 4 one another. Maybe if it was a more gradual/natural change and not quite so out-of-the-blue. That's what raised the red flag for me. He's always had God references of some sort in his work, true, but up till then he was never annoyingly beat-you-over-the-head obnoxious with it. Lovesexy *kinda* came close, but compared to "The Christ" and shit, it was nothing. Facebook, I haz it - https://www.facebook.com/Nikster1969

LadyChel.. how long have you been following Prince's music?
you sound like a newbie to me. Nothing wrong in being a newbie, of course not.. but you sound like you have no idea of what you are talking about. Larry Graham is an insult, imo.. the things he did to Prince is unforgiveable. Hate versus Love... Love always wins, but God damn, it's hard to try to love Larry Graham.... Prince 4Ever.

If you have'nt walked in someone shoes you don't know what they going through. He lost his parent and his child and two of his marriages didnt work out.We should feel the pain of others instead of just thinking of ourself.I've been through alot in life so therefore I can feel others pain...Maybe Larry came at the right time when he needed a friend...Life experiences sometimes make you turn 2 God...yes and you may loose alot of freinds...but I learned friends come and go but Jehovah God will be with you 4ever...I feel Prince pain and I will love him 4ever... ..money can't buy happiness...But God can heal the soul ♥ Feeling Purple Rain...Don't hold on 2 the pain, hold on 2 the memories ♥

[Edited 10/5/09 23:35pm] I don't think I have ever seen a pic of prince with George Clinton so you can google all day but it doesn't exist. I don't even recall the two of them in the same scene in Grafitti Bridge not even once. There was the mini Prince concert filmed at Paisley from back in the day that Clinton performed at and Prince was at the side of the stage but never were they caught on camera together doesn't exist [Edited 10/6/09 23:29pm] Found a pic! If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What bible are you reading? (I don't necessarily mean that as a rhetorical question, but every version of the bible I have read contradicts this... unless slavery isn't considered hatred.) -edit- Eh, I fucked the quote up, but whatever. [Edited 10/7/09 13:03pm]

I wouldn't deem it major; your username was still within the post, and I addressed the issue afore it was responded to. The more essential bit was left unanswered, of course, but my question remains: what bible are you referring to?

I will not get into a semantics game or debate or some version of the Bible vs. another. I'll tell you what I don't read: The Jehovah's Witness New World Translation that is altered to the point of being a totally different text, the Book of Mormon, The Satanic Bible, or the Catechism.

Ah, I would not entertain the idea of a debate, or pitting two sects' scripts against one another (I think that goes on enough without my influence, eh?). I simply wanted something new to delve into; I've an intrigue with religion, particularly Christianity, and was curious to know if there was some version of the bible (that I was unaware of) that did not promote intolerance, slavery, etcetera--but I appreciate your response.

To talk about something doesn't promote it. So if you are referring to slavery, oppression, religious bigotry and the like in the Bible, yes it's there. The whole story has a fabulous ending, and the wrongs are righted.
