If Prince should release "Best of P 1996 - Present" what should be on it? I think Prince should release his "Best Of" album since his emancipation from Warner. There are alot of people who are unfamiliar with some of these great songs that have barely if ever been played on the radio.
I'll start with the obvious; Somewhere Here On Earth and Last December. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I'd say 1994 until present, although that might prove difficult because of the songs signed under Warner.
What songs? Just stick to the singles and even those would be unfamiliar to most. Letitgo TMBGITW Dolphin Betcha by Holy river The truth Ah crap, we all know the singles!

The problem is that the material from 1996-2000 wasn't Prince. I would make a Prince (2001-now) compilation and a 2nd CD full of the best material.
That one will never see the light of the day, unfortunately and we know why... 3121 Musicology Call My Name The Work Love Black Sweat Lolita She Loves Me 4 Me Colonized Mind Crimson And Clover U Make My Sun Shine The Word Te Amo Corazón Here The One U Wanna C Somewhere Here On Earth Fury Better With Time Dance 4 Me Future Baby Mama 4Ever Reflection Guitar Last December This would be on my 2001-now compilation

He's due for two GH packages. One of nothing but material since the last Hits package ended with the start of the name change. And one, in the future, with stuff since he was Prince again. The second Prince package should be "The Hits Vol 2". Whereas the package would just be the one. He has everything from The Gold Experience through Rave Un2, including Exodus and NPS.

Yeah, we should rather discuss his religion and its effects on his music! Who's with me?

Unfortunately some of us are kinda new so we think of things that are boring to you. But some of you have been on here 8 or more years and I am sure there are LOTS of topics that bore that crap out of you at this time. I am sure if I make it to 3 or more years I'll probably spend most of my time in general discussion. Sorry to be redundant. It wouldn't be worth putting one out because he didn't have any hits.
At a stretch 'Musicology' and 'Black Sweat' could be stuck on the end of any career-encompassing singles collection, but even that's pushing it.

Im not new but d gladly discuss the same topic a million times over than discuss how religion has impacted on andeventually killed almost 30 years of funky Prince albums ( the guy still has it live) and replaced it with a safe, middle of the road, drum machine loving, censor. Ooops...I think I've just discussed religion

The general public wouldn't know (read: wouldn't care) about any of these songs. None of them were really "hits" or got much radio play.
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World is still Prince's top outside-post-Warner release, and that was 1994.

You'll be going to Org Hell for that. Basically that involves having MzkQueen(?) explain through a loud-hailer the montage of Orger picture threads to you. For ever.

I´m also new and the search function for threads doesn´t work at all so far for me! I like the start up date of 1996 Deadflower. Someone mentioned earlier than he `should release from 2001 onwards but that was never going to happen and they knew why ` but I don´t know why. Of the albums since 1996 that I have Chaos and Disorder (1996) Into the Light, I will Emancipation (1996) New World, The Human Body, Holy River , Curious child Crystal Ball (1998) don´t have it The Truth (1998) don´t have it The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale (1999) She spoke to me ,The lights go down Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic (1999) only have the dvd don´t really know it The Rainbow Children (2001) no have N.E.W.S (2003) no have Musicology (2004) What do you want me to do, Cinnamon girl 3121 (2006) Te amo corazon, Beautiful loved and Blessed Planet Earth (2007) Future baby Mama, Somewhere here on earth LOtUSFLOW3R / MPLSoUND (2009) Don´t have it but like Crimson and Clover and Dance for me "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

That's why we would rather call it a "Best Of" than a "Greatest Hits". Bingo!! I deffinately picked those words carefully. I don't think that the tunes from 1996 on were allowed to be hits; I love ALOT OF THEM and think there are many people out there who would aswell. Personally IMO, some of his best vocals have been in the last 13 years. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Honestly I doubt if anyone looks much past page 3 to see if a thread has already been started on a particular topic. Unfortunately what I have observed, so far, is that lets say that you started a thread that was halfway descent and then over the next 2 days a bunch of people posted not so great threads that aren't very well thought out; your thread will sink like a lead ball because no one even knows it's there to comment on. It doesn't matter how lame a topic is, it still gets to be a thread. Truly I think repeating a halfway descent thread idea over again beats a flood of half-baked thread ideas.
