Biggest Prince Purchasing Regrets

What are orgers biggest regrets regarding Prince related products that you put off buying at the time of release, and now cannot get hold of as untouched originals?

Mine would have to be; not getting The Black Album, and Exodus on CD, The Beautiful Experience on vinyl, and the 7inch vinyl poster bag of I Wish U Heaven.

I'm still gutted to this day!

I could have bought Morris' yellow Cadillac after the Purple Rain movie wrapped. It had a for sale sign in it just up the street from me. It was only like $400 or $600.

falloff Some shady looking dude actually owned it. I looked at it, but it wasn't in great shape. It looked good from a distance, though.

I did see in a record collector mag once, in the late 80's/early 90's, a jacket which was apparently being sold by Appolonia which was used in Purple Rain.

If memory serves, I think it was supposed to be the black one Prince wears with the white scarf through the shoulder epaulettes when he takes her down to Lake Minnetonka.

It did come with a letter of authentication, but as it was around $5000, it was well out of my price range!

Back when my Prince interest was in its dawning phase, I actually held the Little Red Corvette 7" in my hands in the record store, but I was on pocket allowance from my mother, so I could only afford ONE 7" and decided to buy one with Diana Ross instead. neutral

The second time, something similar happened. I had the Paisley Park 12" in my grasp, but for some strange inexplicable reason decided against buying it. neutral

The third and final time this happened was with the Carmen Electra: Go Go Dancer CD-single. I have since bought the maxi single, but have never seen the single again. confused

I found the 7" of Gotta Stop (Messin About), only released in the UK, for 50 pence in a junk shop in Barmouth, Wales in about 1984. I only knew PR, didn't recognise the song name and put it back.

I've seen it go for $200 plus on ebay.

No regrets, even the stuff i don't like (lots lately)
I buy a lot of music in a year, and believe it or not, after all these years I'm always still excited about the new "Prince" record.

I must say tho' i do not collect his new stuff like i once did.
The only cd's from the 90's that i think i kept and still own are "The Truth" and "Come" nothing from this decade, but I "buy" every new release regardless, I may bitch about them, but never any regrets.

I have no regrets.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Not really regrets because I buy anything he releases but I must admit that I never listened to NEWS, 1999 The New Master,ONA Live or Planet Earth more than a couple of times. They´re all collecting dust.
New Power Soul and TRC were on heavy rotation though, and I like the One Nite Alone piano album a lot.Musicology was a bit meh, just like the current albums.
And I have yet to listen to No More Candy 4 U....that song is something I just don´t want to hear. And yes, I hate Jack U Off and Ronnie Talk To Russia, too. No need for a remake.

Great topic. I first thought the answers were going to be along the lines of "I'm sorry I bought that..." but seems they are more like "I WISH I would have..."
I remember seeing Madhouse 8 and 16 in the CD cutout bins for $6.99 in the longboxes.Only bought one copy of 8 for a friend, wish I had bought more.

Also regret not buying the Family CD (Japanese) when I first saw it in the NPG Catalogue in 1994 (if they even had any available). I did order the MPLS CD but it never came. sad

No one's mentioned concert tickets.

I have to say I wish I'd bought just ONE MORE 02 ticket. I'd seen three shows and spent up, but with hindsight, I'm sure I coulda bummed the cash from a friend, and not had to sit at home on the last night wishing I was in London, and getting to finally see an Indigo aftershow.

What's the track differences between the Go Go Dancer Maxi and Single? Is this the one you're looking for: http://991.com/Buy/Produc...ber=100014 Do you have the Shhh! in-house promo vinyl of Go Go Dancer?

I should have purhased TRC vinyl as well. If I had known. I was also in the same predicament with that Controversy poster...had an offer for a laminated one for $50 several years ago and took my time/balked. When I wanted it it was too late. I luckily found one 2 years ago.

Yeah, thanks for posting this.

Sorry if my topic title was a bit ambiguous. This thread is definitely about things you wish you had bought at the time and didn't (mainly in my case through lack of cash), rather than things you regretted buying!

Ever since I first saw Purple rain, I've bought all of the Prince albums on release day. My one regret is that I didn't also buy the singles until the Gett Off Maxi-single, thus missed out on the b-sides, extended versions, remixes. I've since gone back and bought all I can find, but am sure I'm still missing some.
