Why didn't Prince make his own remix of Dance 4 Me? What the quoi? Why is someone else remixing one of Prince's Songs. i thought Prince remixed all of his own music. | |

Um.....other people have been officially remixing Prince's music since the mid 80's.
I don' t know where you got this idea from that Prince only ever does his own remixes. You've never heard the Razormaid remix of Housequake? William Orbit and Mark Moore's remix of The Future (that was even a single in it's own right!!) QD3's remix of Letitgo? Shock G's remix of Love Sign? The Neptunes remix of The Greatest Romance Ever Sold? Those are just some of the really good ones - there's a ton of official Prince remixes, usually found on vinyl and maxiCD singles. So; does the original artist, i.e., Prince in this case, ask to have their music remixed by someone else; or does the remixer ask the original artist to do so? Sorry, i was a stay at home Mom for many years and immersed myself and them in German Music and of course all the current cartoons and child stars of their age. i'd like to know what i have missed over the years in the music and movie industry. An official remix that's released on a Prince single - Prince will have asked the people to do a remix. In the past, it was more likely that the record label would provide Prince with a list of people and he would make the final decision. If somebody takes a track and samples elements of it without having been asked to, that's an unofficial (fan-made) remix and won't get released on an official single or promo. These aren't as easy to make as they won't have access to the multi-tracks, unlike the people making the official remixes. |
