we been waitin' for a true funk album since 1999!. Live insts' would just be the usual JB Lite type trax like musicolgy, turn me loose, pretty man etc. I hope he's now well over that sound.

New Power Soul was pretty close.
Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

I think F.U.N.K. was really getting close, as was Glasscutter. Always loved the latin breakdown at the end of FUNK, and listening to it on headphones the other day, there are SO MANY NUANCES, little samples, little fills, it's just a tracks that's crammed with ideas, but spontaneity as well. I'd like a trancey groove track a la 3121 where the rhythm section (Sonny and Michael) sit in that deep pocket and don't go nowhere for like 5 minutes! Then a light summery jam with a solid back beat like Gangster Glam (with P rapping) or Feel Good or High. And then of course a monster James Brown jam, not -lite, but super super heavy, like Feel Good Feel Better meets the Work.

And a Hendrix inspired one, but a slow blues jam like Machine Gun.

The blistering guitar solo would be saved for the Soul balled, which would be like Satisfies, but with an EPIC rock ballad solo. It would be like the passion of Adore meets the extended jam at the end of Never Take the Place of your Man. And people would say it was the new Sign O The Times.

And NO lite-jazz! And sax solo has to be burning. Like Sexy MF.

That would make me happy.
Oh, and a duet with Amy Wino.
Take it - like Clarence said:

arent drum machines and synthesizers Prince's claim 2 fame?

as much as i like raw funk nothing gets to me like a slamming drum sequence with those mighty OB "horns"
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

I agree with u.
Yes they are but i 4got 2 mention synths included which is why i have changed the title of the thread. In fact i would like 2 see him do an album of usin
the drum machines & real drums.
I would not like james brown inspired tunes anymore.I am bored of them.
Unless if it's sexy mf housequke etc influence. they r dirty.
i would like 2 see more funkadelic parliament sly stone miles davis inspired tunes.
I see u r a fan of jesse johnson i love his shockadelica album.
