I can't believe that the only professional guitar TAB available for Prince is Purple Rain.

I know there are some wicked guitarists on the org, so why don't we get together and all tackle a few songs each to come up with a decent collection of TABs.

I'm talking about proper tablature, not a list of chords. I think this is a very worthy project and by sharing our TABs with eachother it would ultimately benefit all of us.


Maybe we could come up with a list of songs we'd like to see tabbed out and then we can start to tackle them....

I have no idea how to use some programmes you might need for this, but I can listen to a song and tell you what notes are being played. So, if someone teaches me how this whole thing works, I'm in, definitely!

I'm guessing zaza knows... Is Guitar Pro 5 a programme where you can do your own TAB??

Yeah, you can make guitar, bass, drum tabs..it works primarly as a playback MIDI programme, but you can create your own tabs. It's not difficult, but it takes a lot of time to create the whole song with bass, drums, guitars..

Is it expensive?

Yeah...but you know...on some sites you can get it cheaper with archive of 50000+ tabs...you know what I mean.. There is site www.ultimate-guitar.com where you can download tabs for gp5 (for free). Sadly, Prince's tabs are often wrong. Then there's similiar programme PowerTab, it's free BUT you can make only guitar tabs (no drums etc.) and it's not very good..GP5 RULES

What other Prince tabs have you done? Could you share them with us??

Well, when you are listening to some track again and again, you'll start hate it And I'm trying to do the best tab of C&C, accurate as much as I can. Guitar parts are easy to hear, but the bass and some of those guitar fills are hard to hear, so that means you have to try different equalizer settings to hear those parts..

We're mainly looking for actual tablature, authentic sounding accurate transcriptions of what's actually on the records themselves.

I'm not talking about publishing a physical book, maybe an online one would be cool though.

I'm going to try and familiarise myself with Guitar Pro to see if I can lay out my TAB professionally... who else is on board?

Ok folks..I have problem with my tab of Crimson and Clover..I'm not a pro-drummer and I can't tab that snare part 1:15-1:17..Can anyone help me? What notes durations I have to use? I know it's going something like this 32th-32th-32th-32th-16th and than - I don't know. Everything I've tried sounds wrong..maybe some syncopes or triplets.. Can anyone help me with this?

But it'd be cool if more people would get involved, so we could build up a decent bunch of accurate and professional looking TABS. There must be other musicians on the board... come on guys, don't be shy!
