I don't love the new Prince, but I do love his music. Always have and always will. I liked Prince better when he was younger, nastier and much more interesting. This new Prince is insincere IMO. He is a hypocite in some ways and I don't believe his JW religion is what he truly wants. I know this is just my opinion and I don't know the man personally, it's just a vibe I get. I do believe Prince then and now is a decent, caring man, but he has lost his edge the past 10 years. He is still one of the finest musicians around, but I don't care for some of the things he does these days. I believe that his religion has confused him and made him much less tolerant and more judgemental.

It's not meant as an ageist remark at all. I just think that, as a musician, he's settled into a groove that he's comfortable with and that's fine. I don't know if I necessarliy agree with the term "New Prince," he just evolved from the person he used to be, but underneath it all, it's still Prince. I love him because he is not afraid to be who is, athough there are some people who might not like it, To me, he seems more comfortable with himself than ever and is not trying to shock us to get our attention anymore. as a young person getting into Prince, i absolutely LOVE his old stuff more than anything..
it was just a lot more raw, and i connect to it easy I like his new stuff.. just not as much. I mean heck it's the same man! His music is great to this day, loved the new cd. I can't believe how incredibly funky he can still be at such an age it's unbelieveable
