Clearly neither extend very far if you're having hissy fits over what strangers on the internet say about another stranger just because you happen to own some of his albums. Prince can defend himself.

"Hissy fits"? You're probably imagining things... you should look to it.

I don't care what HE does!
I come in here to have some fun and some people (strangers or not) disgust me with their nasty poisonous comments! It's revolting! If I wanted to be around such behaviour I would go to a football match instead!

I'm taking offense of your arrogant posture - as if you are going to decide who is a "good" Prince fan or not... eek

Remember that some of these "so called" Prince fans are following his career for over 25 years - the opinions they are voicing are based on a thorough knowledge of Prince's work.

And besides, have you ever looked up the "forum" ?

They'll never be another 1999, Purple Rain or SOTT....so get over it! That's why I love Prince's music and addicted to it, because I can put any music of his depending on my mood. RC, Musicology, Planet Earth, 3121 and Lotus Flow3r are amongst some of the best albums of this decade.

Ps, I'm just listening to Planet Earth...and i'm loving it!!!!!

I think it happens coz we struggle to actually just run with the music. discovering Prince in the1980's as I did-listening to Prince was not just about the music. Firstly it was part of my own formative years being a teenager, secondly it was the excitement of the hoopla surrounding the man himself, they are things which we cant really put a price on.I think strangely if Prince had the exposure with the modern music as much as he did then, his current stuff would I feel sell more than something like Lovesexy. But come on lets all admit we just love people hating us for liking Prince. I think that is what we all have in common (And with Prince also)-we are a bunch of pain in the arse challengers and its great!!!

Interesting thread, but you know you start shit with a thread like this.
I'm passed the infatuation stage where I would jump up and defend Prince whenever someone bad mouthed him or said he made crappy music.....I think I must have been in my teens when I still did that.

Not anymore, I've grown up and discovered so much more great music (and crappy corny music) besides Prince's. I still enjoy his, not all, but a lot still.

Nothing is as subjective as taste, so of course not everyone will agree with what you say or feel. We are here to read, get informed, voice our opinions or just to fuck around. And isn't this a great place for it? But if you get offended by everyone who does not share your likings, you're in for a tough time I guess.

Don't take it personal when someone slags off the Purple knob, you're not the one being criticized. You may not agree or you may wanna role your eyes over someone's post or remark, but it's about HIS output. And some of it is fab, but it can be a real crap-fest as well.

In my opinion; so this is not a fact but just how I think about it, Prince, to me has lost the ability to create something really exciting.

There have been some pretty decent tracks on some of his latest albums but I hardly play them. And that's ok, he moved on, so have I.

I don't hate, I celebrate, but not JUST to his shit.

how about you get over yourself, instead of trying to start controversy. Who are you to judge who is a "so called Prince fan"? you aren't. People like who they like, and say what they say about Prince.

No one should have their own opinion, in my opinion. You all should have the same opinion of the person writing the thread.

But you don't have to take my word for it.

What it fails to state is that while not being able to return, we don't have to turn against the strength of our youth in the process of knowing there is no going back.

I wonder if those who think Prince's latest stuff is the best thing since sliced bread ever get pissed off at a Prince show when he plays things like LRC? I mean, that song is in his past and he's moved past that.

Why people allow others to shake them so easily makes me scratch my head. They are not caring that some of you are pissed off. Why not just hold your ground and ignore what you don't like?

I probably will never be a former Prince fan. Each album brings at least one song that blows me away. I see nothing wrong with people missing the time when a whole album did that.

Man..sometime these threads crack me up.

It's all about opinion, you have yours and I have mine. We may not like each others opinion but thats life isnt it.

I met my wife at a Prince show and as she is a bit younger than me, she got into Prince in the 90's, whereas I started getting interested in the early 80's when 1999 come out. Whilst we share the same view on certain things, we also have different views. Thats because we are different people with different brains. She likes some songs that i think are pretty wack and vice versa. Does that make me right and her wrong or vice versa? Course it doesnt..

Just chill, it's no big deal..it's time for Peace, Love and Understanding

I admit I feel he's done his best work in the late 70's and throughout the 80's. I also think his stuff today is much better than the artists of today.
