This is a frequently asked question and I honestly believe that Prince has at various points in the web's history, been online and chatted with fans or posted messages on forums such as these (albeit "anonymously"). initially I think he was genuinely excited with the concept of the web in the early days of 1994-2000, some people still recall days of AOL chat with someone who just had to be him, and Prince's early official sites like The Dawn and L4OA where he was much more interactive.

Whether or not he still does this is anybody's guess. I am tempted to think not because he just seems to be "over" or disillusioned with the internet already.

We have had many posters over the years (TheNewWatcher for example - who I did think was Prince) who seemed to know Princely things before they had happened, or seemed to really be asking leading questions, or reacting to things (like Apple announcing itunes excitedly and NPGMC download store starting up soon afer) and then there was a follow up event in Prince world.Even this may have been some everyday fan pulling our chain by being stereotypically Prince (cryptic, poetic, strange, elusive etc).

The bottom line is nobody knows, and Prince would certainly not come out and admit who he was.

He talked to me at the NPGMC once (and no...not as chebur ). A couple minutes later, the entire thread disappeared.

If I was him I would do it. Just to have a little fun with my fans and they'd never know it was me. Even if I said "yeah, it's me" they'd never believe me.

He would just have to get an employee to set up a user name etc so it couldn't be traced back to him.

It would kinda be a great way to test of what his fans truly thought.
