How many folk still listen to Purple Rain--the song!

It never gets old folks. I can listen to it at any time, any place. It rarely gets boring. It still makes me close my eyes and groove to the soulful singing and powerful drum beat. It still moves my heart and drives my soul. The live versions, on the other hand I usually avoid. I prefer the original and always will. Who still gets juiced by PR? Anyone bored by it and why?

Thanks. kiss.

For a long time I was burned out by Purple Rain. I can enjoy listening to it again. The same with 1999.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Up until a few years ago I couldn't stand listening to PR but in recent years the live performance has become better and better, especially the Montreux one and also the Superbowl.

I DO get tired of his COVER of NC2U though wink

me too. i could do without ever hearing that again, eventho the
album is still brilliant to me. i listen to it often but always
skip the title track.

purple rain, i listen to perhaps twice a year. it's not that i
don't like it anymore or have heard it too often. i just have
to be in the mood for it, and i rarely am these days.

Maybe you should spend more time in remedial English and less time on the org.

It's a great song but the drums sound very dated. The drums bother me. They subtract some soul from a very soulful song.

And that is why I rarely listen to it these days.
the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

listen to The Replacements - its good for the soul

I can't get tired of it. When he's about to go into his guitar solo, I make everyone around me be quiet so I can hear that first OFFICIAL note. And then I play air guitar with him and sing the solo. Got my kids doing it too. That's a song that I will listen to everytime it comes on.
close my eyes, what's it like, what's it like inside your tamborine?

Is it bad that I haven't played the PR album in over 4 years. I hear enough of the songs on oldies radio.

I love the way you describe how it makes you feel... but a lot of the live versions are amazing too, Coachella just recently for instance is fantastic, I think!! I don't often 'choose' to play it, but when it comes on by accident or as part of a playlist it makes me feel exactly as you describe, and moves me to tears often. If you're bored with Purple Rain you're bored with life! wink
