Prince has NOT retired. You're confusing him with Michael Jackson again.

The recent quality of his music has made it clear to me that he has retired since the year 2000 and music is just a hobby for him now.

The music still rocks, but he does not have to prove anything anymore to nobody. I love Prince and his music. I love the website. I get it. He has retired. No more promotions, videos back to back, extraordinary tours or interactive websites. However, we all still get to hear and see a little of him during his years of retirement. Prince has done great work in the past and he still does great work. He has made a name for himself and i'm just glad that even though he has retired, he is still releasing music to his loyal fans. Thanx Prince.
Tell that to all the people promised the great website for $77. Prince's people said "we know it's steep in price, but it'll be worth it" (paraphrase) in emails. Not sure about him still making great music. His last great YEAR of music was 1996, aside from Crystal Ball (just for all the outtakes on it, which was really just one disk of stuff ultimately; fuck the remixes, The Truth, and Kamafucktra.) Is Prince in his retirement years? I guess you could look at it that way; that he's taking a lower profile on things. Sure he generates a lot of press when an album comes out, but we've seen with 3121, Planet Earth and Lotus that it dies down quite quickly. (Despite his 21 nights on London, he still performed PE material oh-so-rarely.) I think Prince had ADHD, which never makes me believe he's fully retired, but he's also not fully in it to win it. Maybe semi-retired is a better word for now. I think he's just biding his time until he starts to get his masters back and can burn them in the backyard of Paisley Park.

Awesome..will that be the name of the next album? Prince will never retire, once the bling and ching get low he'll conjure up another plot/album to exploit and attempt at charging you all $77.00 or $99.49 or some sort of weird high priced number at an attempt at a 'comeback'! You all should be ashamed you fell for the $77.00 rape. GMAN

Oh come on. I don't agree with you. LOL! Ok, I back down...a little. Outside of the Musicology album, most of his post 2000 stuff seems like he was just throwing stuff at the wall to see what would stick. How's that?

I was having green tea and biscotti at Starbucks with our boy Prince and he said, "I'm ready to buy 3 cats and a condo in Boca Raton." I spilled my tea and said, "Sugar, honey, ice tea, but what about your fans?" He said, "They'll always have Jughead!"
[Edited 7/14/09 19:05pm] When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Oh, ok...so you mean he'll have to just stand there and play then, huh? Well ok then... since he's more than a song and dance man then that should be ok, right? Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!
