I love it too, BRILLIANT song. I have the extended version 4.54 but it's still not long enough,a 10 minute version would be great.

Absolutely love the song.

I just bought a Letitgo CD single that had the extended version of Alexa de Paris on it -- first time I had it digitally from a legit source.

Odd pairing though IMO.

This is one of the many reasons why Prince is considered a genius. It is also one of the many reasons why The Revolution were such a cool band. It is also one of the reasons why Parade was the finest of all of the Prince eras (probably). It is a gorgeous tune... I just wish he would release the 1986 An Honest Man instrumental to reinforce all of the above, too!

Beautiful song...Why was it not on the Hits/B-Sides collection? That package was severely lacking and poorly edited.

Yeah, I meant originally. I know a lot of those German rereleases on CD had weird configurations of songs, and sometimes even weird cover art for them. I remember Prince going off about the Pharaoh and the "unauthorized" releases. He had pics of a lot of those German CD singles listed above. Cranky fucker.

Love the song. I actually never sought to buy it. But, maybe a decade or so ago, I purchased the Letitgo maxi-single and Alexa de Paris was on it.

Would love to hear an extended version as well as a Parade-era instrumental suite of maybe 30 minutes or so. Lots of great, lush, instrumental segments and songs around that time. Even something like the opening chords of "Sometimes It Snows it April" could easily be worked into an instrumental piece.

That's a great song. I had the song as a part of my bootleg collection and didn't have to title to the song for a few years until I asked a friend of mine what it was. It's a very atmospheric type of song and I love songs like those. I don't care for instrumentals but this song and a couple of others from Prince are among my favorite.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

nod nod nod nod nod nod

the body of work from the early to mid 1980's, in terms of diversity, quality and quantity is something that P should b incredibly proud of, and tracks like this one show even the biggest ctirics that he isn't a 'one trick pony', but a once in a lifetime figure, who feeds off, and moulds from, those around him, and takes it to the next level
