Some 7,000 tickets for two Prince concerts at the Montreux Jazz Festival have been snapped up eight minutes after going on sale, say organisers. Demand was high for the gigs on 18 July, despite tickets for standing room only being priced at 195 Swiss Francs (£111). The musician's appearance at the gala was only confirmed last week. He performed at Montreux, Switzerland in 2007, when 4,500 concert tickets were sold out within 10 minutes. Ticket limit Other performers due to play a series of concerts at the festival include the Black Eyed Peas, Grace Jones and Marianne Faithfull. Wyclef Jean, who is standing in for former Fugees bandmate Lauryn Hill after she cancelled her European tour, will also appear. The festival got under way at the end of last week, and will also feature Herbie Hancock making his 30th Montreux appearance. Tickets for a seat at one of Prince's consecutive two concerts cost 480 Swiss Francs (£273), while a two ticket limit per person was imposed. Link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/h...135952.stm

That said, let me say that Prince is a real asshole for not touring the continent! Since 2002 all he did was Montreux 2007 and the O2 shows, having fans obligated to travel and driving them to having extensive costs to see him perform! It sucks! Yay to bands like U2, or even Coldplay (who suck, IMO) for taking the effort to tour around the world after almost each new album, enabling all fans to see them perform! Maybe it's hard to tour with a bum hip. You know that that is bullshit, Prince still does aftershows until 6 in the morning!

Care to share some context? He hasn't played a show over here since 2007. It's only a small room. Not a 20.000 people ice-skate rink which he'll play a few times over the weekend. Not part of a tour where he'll come closer to the people anyway. So it's most of Europe's active, hardcore fans in that small room... (who can still afford this during a U$A-rooted cri$i$) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

How often does U2 do Montreux?
Or a comparable sized room for just the whole of Europe? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Someone please pay off the soundboard guy for access to a jack. how big is the change there will be after show after the two sets, of which the second one will probably end at 1 AM or something? and if so...where will it be? I doubt there'll be an aftershow as the 2nd concert starts at midnight (if he's on time)-ish, so that can go on til 2.30-3... by the time gear and people have moved, it won't start til 5 or 6... however this would be very good as I have until half 1 sunday afternoon until my flight back to London without a hotel room to wait... I'd think popping painkillers to get through one night is a lot different than traveling from city to city for months, doing shows until 6am in each of those places. But believe what you want. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Nonsense. Whether he is at home or doing an aftershow, his day/night rhythm won't be like mine. So don't make him look like Michael with the painkiller nonsense since he'd have to use them at home as well. Travelling in beyond average vehicles is not so bad compared to work that many of us have to do to get by. Please provide some better context... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... There was an interview with Claude Nobs, where he stated that Prince wanted 35mm film which would cost far too much, so they agreed on HD... Can't remember where it was, but it was...
