Appreciating Prince Now More Than Ever

With the sudden passing of Michael Jackson ,whom was my favorite artist , I am now appreciating Prince, who I love as well, more than ever. So many great talents have passed on now and Prince is one of the last one's left. All this just makes me realize how short life is. Don't take it for granted when it comes to Prince. I think it's good how he's always putting out music and doing concerts. It's really great the continues to keep going on with his career. You just never know when it's your time. I am so broken up over Michael right now, but I'm just thinking of Prince now and will never take him for granted again. Anytime I have the opppurtunity to see him live in concert again, I will. I see certain people on here all the time criticizing Prince, but doesn't make sense to me to waste your time constantly hating on his new music or whatever it is, be happy that he is out there even making music still and doing concerts. You never know when it can all end like that. Right now, I appreciate Prince more than ever. So glad he's still here doing his thing.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

i will say this.....

when my dad or mum tell me someone they grew up with or hung out with when they were younger die-i can see in their eyes it does affect them. More than they think they let on. It obviuosly makes you look at your own mortality-so Prince will be the same i imagine-he may even wonder if its all so important to be a huge star if the price-ultimately is.....i know he's does not seem as fragile as MJ was-but we don't know what really goes on behind closed doors.

so-Prince and alot of celebs and non celebs will now be questioning their own life.....

Its funny how people wait for someone to die before appreciating their life..

People drop grudges...

With respect to MJ..

What about your neighbor? Several people died yesterday and this week.

What about the people on that Metro Train in D.C.?

What about the children born into horrible families?

What about the poor?

What about the people you do not speak to when you enter a store or shop?

it will be interesting to see how many people latch on to Prince now ,as in, He is the last great entertainer closest to MJ and all that. How many people will wait for him to comment? Michael has gone because nobody said no to him too many yes men in his life... it's very sad RIP michael

I totally feel your post, I see it more with my dad than my mom
But I had the opportunity to experience my moms mothers death and how that really changes things from not having a mother to actually closing down the house she was raised in.

A lot of wisdom in the death of another human

I know what your saying, but I don't think it's always that people wait, I think a death of a fellow human causes people to fine tune how the live

911 affected me profoundly, watching a lot of the intimate reviews of people who lost friends and family some they new since they were children

I love my family but during that time I realized I was withholding myself from them, out of a fear of loosing them. I don't know a lot of death in my personal life, and my first experience (a friend in the boy scouts) scared the life out of me.

You said some really important things

I think Farahs passing affected me deeper than Michaels actually

Some people don't live wisely when it comes to their relationships and many other do. Love is a perfecting process...

yeah-i see it in my dad more too-though i think its cuz he still one of the lads as such-goes drinking etc with old mates. My ma-kinda gave all that up like most women do when they have kids-and a 'lively' hubby to look after

Im shocked watching the coverage how many comparisons to Prince's current life i can make which is frightening.

Like-painkillers.....

Like being surrounded by yes men.....

and-like MJ did-Prince creates his own world and the rest of us kinda observe from afar. As time goes on-that world seems further and further away from 'our' world which is sad too.

its scary and i probably should stop watching nosw. Sadly-life HAS to go on

BUT WHAT AN AWFUL DAY..... sad

I've been wondering the same thing where Prince is concerned. Is Prince going to get the same treatment when he passes on? Will people dance in the streets to Purple Rain or some other Prince album when that day arrives? I pray we don't find out anytime soon but I've been wondering.

I also wonder what's up with Prince himself. I really hope and pray that what's happened to Michael Jackson will shake Prince to his core and make him look at his career and life a little bit differently and realize that he needs to stop fighting over petty shit. The world is talking about Michael's legacy right now and watching videos on youtube and whathaveyou but if God forbid Prince dies like next week, how can one truly remember him when you can't even see a simple video of "When Doves Cry"? How can people remember him when there are CD's that are out of print and all they'll have is the 80's stuff when there was so much more than just that decade alone? I dont mean to dog Prince but my prayer is that he eases up on stuff where control over his music is concerned so that the world can enjoy all of his work as he is alive not just when he dies. I hope I'm not sounding morbid over Prince but things are not in a good place with him where fans are concerned and I hope he rectifies things before it's too late for him. Even with his personal life, I hope he gets a handle on his health and anything that could trip him up so that there is more music for the world and all of us to enjoy and that he has a life that he can enjoy for himself.

Sorry for being long-winded but I just had to say all of that. I hope it made some sense.

I totally agree with everything you said. I was wondering how Prince will be remembered, too. Yes, Prince does need to make his work available to the public. He can start by releasing some of his concerts on DVD. I think its a shame that there are so many people in this world who have no idea of how talented he is. This is the time for Prince to start thinking about his legacy.

yup more than ever
I appreciated MJ when he was alive and even if i didnt or other didnt One thing no one can deny is the impact of music in society and his persona.
It was fucking michael jackson for goodness sake!

Prince you are King 1/2 of the reason why music is the way it is (other half was and will always be mj)

Luv ya razz

i SOMETIMES THINK WHAT INSPIRED mj to have the silly thought of doing 50 shows in london was Princes 21 nights. prince did what he knew he could physically achieve. Michael pushed himself to do the number of shows realistically i knew he couldnt

Yeah, it's time for that stuff to come out. It's also time for Prince to settle his shit with WB and remaster all the CD's from that period of time, 1978-1996.

Excuse you but a good person has died and the nation is in mourning because of that regardless if certain people Didnt ''apreciate'' him. And it doesnt mean that if someone else died i.e a neighbour I (or others) wouldnt hurt. Its hard to mourn for someone youve never seen and dont know (i.e their existence) but we knew Michael, not personally but through Music, interviews , slowly seeing other black muscians being accepted because of a few people (MJ and Prince) I fuckin loved that dude and theres nothing wrong to say RIP him , others who are famous and lost their lives; aswell as those who werent

And that's what we don't want. Yes I want Prince to keep making new music for the future but with all that's come before, there should be some kind of "tribute" for lack of a better word for what's come before. This is THE year to do something special for Purple Rain since it turned 25 yesterday, the album, but we're getting nothing and it's a shame. Thankfully things can always change but I'm hoping that there will be change. Time will tell and I will keep on doing this: pray

Madonna is still a great entertainer and is from the same era as MJ and Prince. They were my favorite three when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s. I realize that not everyone on this forum likes Madonna, but she is a great performer and is one of the last true, living icons in music.
