So many great talents have passed on now and Prince is one of the last one's left. All this just makes me realize how short life is. Don't take it for granted when it comes to Prince. I think it's good how he's always putting out music and doing concerts. It's really great the continues to keep going on with his career. You just never know when it's your time. I am so broken up over Michael right now, but I'm just thinking of Prince now and will never take him for granted again. Anytime I have the opppurtunity to see him live in concert again, I will. I see certain people on here all the time criticizing Prince, but doesn't make sense to me to waste your time constantly hating on his new music or whatever it is, be happy that he is out there even making music still and doing concerts. You never know when it can all end like that. Right now, I appreciate Prince more than ever. So glad he's still here doing his thing.

Thanks 4 the post Cinnimon...it is so true. People...human nature...the whole death culture. We should appreciate people while they R here 2 enjoy it. We need 2 learn 2 let the little stuff go as it really doesn't matter. Eye've been coming 2 this site 4 a few months now...and sad 2 say eye almost always find myself in the position of defending Prince. Eye find that so sad...and if any good comes from the passing of MJ eye hope it will b a change of heart of the so called fans that hate. Eye was not a fan of MJ but eye do appreciate his contribution 2 the world of music. Eye am so sad he left this earth now...but understand that at least he has peace now. Eye find as the days pass that my sorrow has in some way turned into anger. All of the outpouring of love and affection, but where were these people say a month or a year ago. He had been judged and abandoned, that is the sad truth. He had been attacked like no other. Some of the same people, again sad 2 say that called MJ a freak 6 months ago R now his BFF. It makes me sick..but at the very least again, eye hope now those that didn't understand, now do. The songs "Black or White" and "Controversy" get me 2 thinking...what does it matter. Let's stop judging others, let's let the small stuff go...let's appreciate the artist and the music. And let's tell them we love them WHILE they R here...when it counts. Thanks 4 allowing me 2 express my opinion.

As far as MJ is concerned, for some reason I've looked at his music/performing and his personal life as two separate things.
As for Prince I see him as one with his music and the loss of MJ has made me realize that so I do appreciate Prince even more now.

U got it right Madison...eye mean about the man and the music. Because Prince is a composer/songwriter not just a singer. What we hear from him IS him. Not that MJ didn't write any of the songs he performed, but 4 the most part that is the case. If U watch Prince performing one of his compositions, even if it's video taped...it is him at that moment. What eye mean by that is, he doesn't sample/lip sync (for the most part). So what U see is the actual man at the moment singing what he felt and wrote. Prince is a legend! Yes let's appreciate him...oh and he's so pretty 2!

rapper

I appreciate everything he puts out, even 3121 which I have listened to 4 times.
I am very happy that some how I will get some new music from him every couple of years and regardless if I dont like it, its new.

With MJ, he had like four albums since Thriller? I can only remeber a couple of tracks off all of them. Thirller was his "last album" to me.

But you know what is crazy? Prince has had so many hits and puts out more than MJ ever did but when he passes, you wont see a fraction of what you are seeing now from Michael in the media. Michaels death is probablly very simple, bad heart, addicted to pian killers, no foul play, end of story but there is going to be so much press and specials it will blow you mind.

When Prince goes, It will say somethign like "Was the Artist" "Purple Rain", wrote songs for a bunch of people and some crazy ass fan bought his old recording studio. Unless there is something wierd about it, it will make no impac on the news. Sad but true.

it will be interesting to see how many people latch on to Prince now ,as in, He is the last great entertainer closest to MJ and all that. How many people will wait for him to comment? Michael has gone because nobody said no to him too many yes men in his life... it's very sad RIP michael

Madonna is still a great entertainer and is from the same era as MJ and Prince. They were my favorite three when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s. I realize that not everyone on this forum likes Madonna, but she is a great performer and is one of the last true, living icons in music.

I agree Madonna is defitnitely up there with Michael and Prince. I have never been a fan of Michael's, but no matter what you can't deny what he has accomplished. The same goes for Madonna and Prince whether you like them or not. Those three are on a super level and noone else may never reach that point.

God! Cinnamon234 that was so SWEET! I was thinking the same thing...Prince is IT! He's the last of the harrahs! That's pretty scary! Because that level of talent (Prince/Michael LEVEL) we're not seeing that again in this lifetime!

I also wonder what's up with Prince himself. I really hope and pray that what's happened to Michael Jackson will shake Prince to his core and make him look at his career and life a little bit differently and realize that he needs to stop fighting over petty shit. The world is talking about Michael's legacy right now and watching videos on youtube and whathaveyou but if God forbid Prince dies like next week, how can one truly remember him when you can't even see a simple video of "When Doves Cry"? How can people remember him when there are CD's that are out of print and all they'll have is the 80's stuff when there was so much more than just that decade alone? I dont mean to dog Prince but my prayer is that he eases up on stuff where control over his music is concerned so that the world can enjoy all of his work as he is alive not just when he dies. I hope I'm not sounding morbid over Prince but things are not in a good place with him where fans are concerned and I hope he rectifies things before it's too late for him. Even with his personal life, I hope he gets a handle on his health and anything that could trip him up so that there is more music for the world and all of us to enjoy and that he has a life that he can enjoy for himself.

there are about 2 free sites that play/have a large number of Prince videos

Yahoo Music is one of them, They even have the One Night Alone concert, It was a few years ago when I wasn't into Prince like I am now, and I saw the Pop Life performance and just remembered that album(my fav) I ended up watching the whole thing. Plus seeing Sheila E really took me back and I have been a full time fan again since then.

I totally agree, I was having a conversation with my brother and cousin after the news about Michaels passsing, and we all said the same, like any of those 3 or not, you can't deny their impact on music and pop culture as a whole, they took the fame status of predecessors and turned it up a few notches. The 80's was the last decaded any artist would be able to reach that kind of stardom.

My hat off 2 all 3.

Actually we were saying that we appreciate Prince & Madonna even more now as well as alot of the bands, singer, musicians & entertainers from that time in music history

GOD FORBID something to happen to Prince...I hope this will be the time that not only all of us, but PRINCE will take time for self reflection..LIFE is tooo short..and it CANOOT be taken for granted..i see millions of people mourning for the daeath of Michael Jackson, and even making a profit from it!! Michael Was a hurt soul, who was drowning in pain..self medicated and alone...Prince, i hope and Pray for that he will not go down this path,..we all need to re examine our lives..death teaches us that...Michael was loved by sooo many!! Just as Prince is...When i heard Michael passed, i hugged my children and cried, i called my family members...i can imagine the PaIN HIS FAMILY IS EXPERIENCING AT THIS TIME,,OR HOW THEY ARE TO EXPLIAN TO HIS CHILDREN THAT THERE FATHER IS GONE...may he rest in peace..and we ALL learn a lesson 2 not only take care of eachother, but to never take Life for granted..pray

I've always felt this way, long before Michael's death. I feel very privileged to be alive to enjoy the incredible music from the man known as Prince Rogers Nelson. All due respect to MJ and JB, Prince will always be the most brilliant performer/frontman/musician on the planet. 2nd to none. Peace to Michael, I hope you finally found it. I have a feeling he was never able to find it 'here on Earth'.

This is so funny, I was just telling my mom today that both Prince and Madonna would be even more appreciated now, especially Prince. It's strange, but instead of listening to MJ tunes, the song that has been the most cathartic for me in dealing with MJ's passing and subsequent craziness, is "Let's Go Crazy" (the long version). The lyrics and energy of the song are feeding me right now.....hunger for life...live it to the fullest.... cause none of us get out of this thing alive. "All excited, don't know why, maybe it's cause, we're all gonna die...."

Prince may be a bit reclusive, but he seems on top of his affairs in comparison to MJ. Prince makes mad money touring and as far as I know, isn't millions in debt all the time. He and Michael seemed like they were on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Prince's world seems sane compared to Michael's, though they do share some similarities.

Prince's world seems sane compared to Michael's, though they do share some similarities.

uttering the name Madonna in the same sentence as Prince shows just how out of touch you ppl are with his music
Whatever. There's no need to prove my musical knowledge to you or anyone else on this forum. Think what you will.
"Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

God! Cinnamon234 that was so SWEET! I was thinking the same thing...Prince is IT! He's the last of the harrahs! That's pretty scary! Because that level of talent (Prince/Michael LEVEL) we're not seeing that again in this lifetime!

I know and i'm scared too. I can't believe P is really one of the last great one's left. To me, Prince is the greatest artist living now which is why we should all apprecate Prince and be thankful to him for continuing to share his immense talent and music with us. There is no one like Prince and there never will be another. I need for Prince to be around for many more years, I really do. After Michael passing and me being so upset, I could not take anything happening to my other favorite aritst. I hope he continues to stay strong, healthy and put out great music and performances.

Love ya P!
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

You know who else I meant to mention in my orginal post but forgot? They were aan inspiration to both Prince and Michael: the original EARTH WIND & FIRE! Although they never became the mainstream WILDFIRES that Prince and Michael were--they could LITTERALLY give you just as good a performance...YOU DON'T FIND THAT TYPE OF TALENT ANYMORE!

What if BEYONCE had to compete with a Chaka or Aretha, or Glades, or a Patti, or a Whitney, a Ross, or a Cheryl Lynn? They would have eaten her alive! She doesn't have that kind of TALENT! They came out when you had to have original talent to make it...

One part of a "trilogy" died,Prince,Michael Jackson and Madonna. All born in 1958. All ruled through the eighties. All except Madonna had talent though. I'm gutted over MJ. A big loss to my youth.
I've just listened to all of Jackson's albums and now I'm starting with from For You and playimg it all through to present.
"madge" can say whatever bout, she is not in the same league.

I hear ya man, very true.
