It's strange, but instead of listening to MJ tunes, the song that has been the most cathartic for me in dealing with MJ's passing and subsequent craziness, is "Let's Go Crazy" (the long version). The lyrics and energy of the song are feeding me right now.....hunger for life...live it to the fullest.... cause none of us get out of this thing alive. "All excited, don't know why, maybe it's cause, we're all gonna die...."
Prince may be a bit reclusive, but he seems on top of his affairs in comparison to MJ. Prince makes mad money touring and as far as I know, isn't millions in debt all the time. He and Michael seemed like they were on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Prince's world seems sane compared to Michael's, though they do share some similarities. [Edited 6/28/09 1:35am] uttering the name Madonna in the same sentence as Prince shows just how out of touch you ppl are with his music Say what you want she is a top album and concert seller And we are dealing with entertainers Prince may be a top notch musician but that doesn't mean the albums are, nor are they always consistant in the last 15-20 years He's still my favorite, but...

People drop grudges... With respect to MJ.. What about your neighbor? Several people died yesterday and this week. What about the people on that Metro Train in D.C.? What about the children born into horrible families? What about the poor? What about the people you do not speak to when you enter a store or shop? These stars are so insulated because people lust after them, but the common man and woman are accessible every day. YHWH is Elohim and Yahoshua is King good point!!!

So many great talents have passed on now and Prince is one of the last one's left. All this just makes me realize how short life is. Don't take it for granted when it comes to Prince. I think it's good how he's always putting out music and doing concerts. It's really great the continues to keep going on with his career. You just never know when it's your time. I am so broken up over Michael right now, but I'm just thinking of Prince now and will never take him for granted again. Anytime I have the opppurtunity to see him live in concert again, I will. I see certain people on here all the time criticizing Prince, but doesn't make sense to me to waste your time constantly hating on his new music or whatever it is, be happy that he is out there even making music still and doing concerts. You never know when it can all end like that. Right now, I appreciate Prince more than ever. So glad he's still here doing his thing.
too true got to stop hating and learn to be grateful for what we got - the best !! love p

I appreciated MJ when he was alive and even if i didnt or other didnt One thing no one can deny is the impact of music in society and his persona. It was fucking michael jackson for goodness sake! Prince you are King 1/2 of the reason why music is the way it is (other half was and will always be mj) Luv ya i SOMETIMES THINK WHAT INSPIRED mj to have the silly thought of doing 50 shows in london was Princes 21 nights. prince did what he knew he could physically achieve. Michael pushed himself to do the number of shows realistically i knew he couldnt [Edited 6/26/09 9:27am] not 2 mention the aftershows as well. i think that's what seperates them musically as well, is that prince is always per4ming where micheal took huge breaks in between ..same with madonna. so if its the physical strain alone, prince i felt was always more healthier than MJ or madonna man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Indeed, MJ's sudden death makes us realize our own mortality that we could die any day. With regards 2 Prince, I'm so happy that he continues 2 make music after all these years and had the opportunity 2 c him perform live numerous times. I do hope MJ's passing will make Prince realize that someday, he 2 shall pass-- hopefully much later-- and not dwell on petty stuff. I hope he will continue 2 release music and tour again soon. I love u Prince and want 2 let u know that while ur still alive and let u know how much ur music has sustained me all these years!! More power 2 u!! "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

On Saturday, while on a road trip with some good friends of mine and in between listening to MJ songs, they played Purple Rain on the Boombox. I haven't listened to that album as a whole in a while and for the first time in a while, I really enjoyed the whole album. It was what I needed to break some of the sadness I felt thinking about Michael by focusing on someone elses work, someone who happens to be #1 with me. It made me appreciate Prince that much more and I'm so thankful that Prince is still around to make music. I said it before, I pray that Prince does all that he needs to do to stay and remain healthy so that he can have a great life and that we can get more music that will make us think, make us reflect, make us dance and most of all give us joy. That's Purple Music to me.
May Prince continue to live so that he can see the Dawn. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It suddenly makes me realize that there are far too many threads around here trying to draw parallels between Michael and Prince.
I don't really see anything here that couldn't have been said on the designated Michael Jackson thread. I appreciate that people feel a loss. I am sorry his life ended so tragically. But surely there are Michael Jackson sites where fans of Jackson could go and console each other. Or even here on the specified threads. But why every thread has to bring up Michael's death is beyond me.
