Madonna is still a great entertainer and is from the same era as MJ and Prince. They were my favorite three when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s. I realize that not everyone on this forum likes Madonna, but she is a great performer and is one of the last true, living icons in music. ..i like madonna also..i grew up with the 10,000 plastic bracelets up to my elbows ...and then i also realized..not counting details but in general-speaking terms..we both have the same destiny... ..mzsexybaby ..She's Just A Baby..but she's my lady..my loveR..my only friend!..true love that will last!..PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND..WHAT SHE SEES IN AN OLDER MAN..they never stop 2 think that maybe i'm what she's looking 4..THEY NEVER TAKE THE TIME..2 look in her mind

People drop grudges... With respect to MJ.. What about your neighbor? Several people died yesterday and this week. What about the people on that Metro Train in D.C.? What about the children born into horrible families? What about the poor? What about the people you do not speak to when you enter a store or shop? These stars are so insulated because people lust after them, but the common man and woman are accessible every day. YHWH is Elohim and Yahoshua is King I get your point. But even while thousands, maybe even millions, die each day, there's nothing wrong w/ honoring one individual who died where that person had such a huge impact on the world's culture and people's lives. Yea, it's a tragedy when anyone dies, but grieving is NOT a zero-sum gain - morning Michael Jackson doesn't diminish the value of anyone else. So get over yourself please.

I see certain people on here all the time criticizing Prince, but doesn't make sense to me to waste your time constantly hating on his new music or whatever it is, be happy that he is out there even making music still and doing concerts. MJ had talent, but nowhere what Prince has. I've known that from the get-go...so, I don't appreciate Prince any "more" today than I did yesterday.
Peeps gotta recognize. As far as scooping up MJ fans, Prince will only gather what he wants...I believe he feels cool where he's at, still bringing in mega cash when he wants to, and doesn't feel the need to reach "the heights" again... One other point about MJ...he influenced so many performers that we sit around and bitch about all day long in these forums..."singers and dancers"....britney, justin, usher, genuwine...we're in the sorry state of music today because of these "performers", all influenced by MJ...weak ass vocals and the same moves...ultimately, MJ may have been the best song and dance man ever, but nothing more. Let's celebrate the music makers, the composers, the producers, the writers...and there is only ONE who masters these attributes. No, I don't appreciate Prince any more today than yesterday. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I do think that artists influenced by Prince are more talented than the one's influenced by Michael, but it's silly to blame Michael for the state of the industry. It's not his fault that many of the artists who were influenced by him are unoriginal or not as talented. I don't see why some of you need to keep putting Michael down though. One thing I know, if the situations were reversed, Michael fans would have the utmost respect for Prince, that's for sure. Majority of P fans have been cool, but some of you just look for any oppurtunity to put Michael down even in his death and it's shameful. This is not an MJ vs. Prince thread. Why even go there about who was more talented and making stupid comments about MJ being unoriginal and all that? Come on, have some class already. This is not what this thread is about. I was simply saying that Michael's death has made me appreciate Prince more. Both were huge in the 80's and do have things in common. Adrogyny theme, both being huge in the 80's and being one time rivals. That's all. No need to compare and use this as another time to put down Michael. Leave him alone already. I was just stating that I appreciate Prince more now 'cause he's one of the last truly great and iconic artists we have left and that the fans shouldn't take him for granted. That's it. This is not a comparison thead. Give that Prince vs. MJ ish a rest already. [Edited 6/26/09 12:53pm] "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I also wonder what's up with Prince himself. I really hope and pray that what's happened to Michael Jackson will shake Prince to his core and make him look at his career and life a little bit differently and realize that he needs to stop fighting over petty shit. The world is talking about Michael's legacy right now and watching videos on youtube and whathaveyou but if God forbid Prince dies like next week, how can one truly remember him when you can't even see a simple video of "When Doves Cry"? How can people remember him when there are CD's that are out of print and all they'll have is the 80's stuff when there was so much more than just that decade alone? I dont mean to dog Prince but my prayer is that he eases up on stuff where control over his music is concerned so that the world can enjoy all of his work as he is alive not just when he dies. I hope I'm not sounding morbid over Prince but things are not in a good place with him where fans are concerned and I hope he rectifies things before it's too late for him. Even with his personal life, I hope he gets a handle on his health and anything that could trip him up so that there is more music for the world and all of us to enjoy and that he has a life that he can enjoy for himself. I think people pull at Prince more because he withdraws more Michael Jackson Madonna and many other big artists have allowed a concert or more to be shown on tv Prince did the 21Nights book and people loved it. I think if you do cool dark smokey Prince photos shoots really interesting real stuff like in his For U - Lovesexy days you will appease your fans and you still have control of your image and people won't 'stalk' you for your fanfare I just got finished watching a VMA(?) show where Slash had this killer guiter solo that ended Beat It, and went into Billie Jean, will we have access to stuff like that from Prince? It can only boost your presence in the musical arena (we already know you can play over 7 instruments) people who aren't fans know that but give some more Madonna is hounded for photo shoots(people can say what they want about her but she is a natural actress, not for film, but for video photos and shows) she is top notch. I just wish that kind of exposure for Prince

No, I don't appreciate Prince any more today than yesterday. ...they are 2 different kinds of entertainers. I think Michael Jackson (can act) way better than Prince... via his videos. I think Michael Jackson can dance way better than Prince yet I've always loved Prince's homemade movies, I didn't like it much when he started getting too much into dance routines like during GB: Theives in the Temple, Prince has his bit of Jams and certain moves he did alot during Controversy - Purple Rain years, and I enjoyed his SOTT film moves but he can move like Mike. *** (wow I just realized I'm still talking about Mike in the present) *** Prince plays instruments, they both can sing, But we can't take about the years Michael had in before Prince(LIVE) because you can do your think with an audience of 50 but when at 6? your in front of 1000s and nailing it(acting and performing) your game is going to be tight 10 20 30 years later

This is THE year to do something special for Purple Rain since it turned 25 yesterday, the album, but we're getting nothing and it's a shame. Thankfully things can always change but I'm hoping that there will be change. Time will tell and I will keep on doing this: Purple rain turned 25 what more should he do? Yes its gd it has but come on he gotta move forward. For the 20th Anniversery A dvd came out with special editions. Only so many times you can repackage something. Im sure he (as well as us his fans) acknowledge that its the 25th anniversery (all this is my opinion)

And the choir says...AMEN !!!! Pre-Thriller MJ and The Jacksons are the core of the soundtrack to my early years. Mike's voice will always be the culmination of Motown/R&B to me. What strikes me when you compare to Prince is the amount of recordings and performances (my god the performances). I think if Prince for whatever reason were to be limited to MJ's frequency of 'artistic release', he'd be just as frail and unhealthy. Instead, Prince is constantly getting what he needs as a performer, as a musician, as a songwriter who has to share...and I think that's a big part of what's kept him going so strong. I mean, could MJ have done shows like the Conga Room? No, but why not? Maybe he didn't enjoy locking in front of less than 20,000 fans enough? Maybe because he left those shows behind when he was like 9? I don't know, but Prince has always seemed to be less caught up on the Big One. Sure another smash like Purple Rain would be nice, but he put out AWIAD and didn't labor for years and years and that approach in the long run is more self-sustaining (we hope). ********************************************
