aside from the last line which is a bit so-so, what is NOT true about the rest of the message? The whole idea of ''ow, someone just died , we can only say good things about him" is SO hypocritical. Chocolatehandles already stated he never was a big MJ fan so why should he be less critical now? He made some valid points about the kids and the life behind the curtains.

Sorry to be ranting so much but this whole "ow MJ was the best" in the media today upsets me quite a bit, as if the rest never happened...

Please tell me WHERE in my post did I mention anything about me NOT being a MJ fan at one time in my life? Of course I loved Thriller back in the day. My only point was saying that all this `Òw MJ was ONLY terrific and had no flaws` is hypocritical. I even agreed that the last line of chocolatehandles´ post was so-so.

Don't you get it .... every human has flaws....

That's why Prince and MJ and James all tell us to love God ...with all their talent they still are flawed people we are all flawed

So why point this out ? Just respect the man for his God given talent ... leave the personal stuff out of it at least until he has been laid to rest..

Have some respect people... mad

What's wrong with Prince / Orgers...don't you hear what Prince sings about in his songs...

Shit unless it's about sex you switch off ?

LondonStyle, seriously, I think you need to log off, turn the PC off, go and have a cup of tea and watch the TV news for a while, or listen to some Michael Jackson albums. You need to have time-out as you are clearly upset and internet forums are not the place for you right now. You know there will be all sorts of opinions on here that will make you angry.
Just somewhere in the middle,

KeithyT - Just don't like the lack of respect to MJ on a Prince website, really of all the places on the internet you think you could go to and get grown up tributes to Michael Jackson the org would be one of those places...

Shit Prince plays Michael Jackson songs at live concerts...he talks about him on live concert records in a respectfull way...so why the beef from "so-called" Prince fans....

I don't know Prince but I think he would be fucking sick to see some of the comments on a website that has his name associated to it...really

R.I.P. Micheal Jackson..

i think you should take this post off of this site love...1 you didn't kill him and 2...not quite sure if you're being sarcastic with the sorry or not...but i am sure people will be emotional about it regardless. It's a sad day for his family and his friends...

Not being sarcastic at all. This is exactly what happened. It freaked me out to be quite honest. Sorry if it bothers anybody, but 1) I doubt his family or friends will read my post and 2) anybody here that gets upset is probably too emotionally involved with someone they don't even know. I'm not going to take it off, but if the mods want to I will not protest one bit.

(It might be considered bad taste, I accept that. However, since this is my experience, I shared it. Again, sorry for any UNINTENDED offense.)

Not to take away from the news but someone needs to give Dr. Funkenberry a shout out because he was the first to have the news out that Mike was dead. I believe that the scooped the world on this one.

So to all that believe that is is a fraud the proof of his credibility was yesterday.

WTF? So the MJ news is like a thread that a gossip blog site can post "First!" on and we all are then supposed to congratulate them for being quick off the mark? lol

Let me tell you something Elvin ...jseven, Dr Funkenberry is just an LA based fan of Prince who has decided to set up a Perez Hilton/TMZ style website that blogs and "comments" on celeb goings on (mainly within LA), new music videos, films, the latest photo of someone who has lost/gained too much weight etc etc. That is all. credibility is a moot point. I found out about this news on UK TV this morning, others will have read it here first, others may have heard it on the radio, some may have been getting their daily dose of vacuous celeb gossip and bitching on DrFB at the very moment it was announced. It does not make Dr FB more or less credible than the BBC. The announcement of people's demise is NOT a race, that you get a gold medal for.

I'm not saying that it was/is a race.

However being a follower of the man and his music for 35 years, I wanted to know about his well being.

Yesterday when I first heard the news that MJ had been rushed to an hospital it was on my local news at 5:05 CST. I hit the Org at 5:07 with the usual Org rumors flying until I saw the link to his site around that time. CNN,MSNBC,etc started posting around 5:15.

My sister saw the Jackson 5 in 1973 in Nashville. She still talks about that concert. In my neighborhood back in the Crooklyn era the Jackson 5 coming on TV was like the President coming on. Everyone wanted to be a Jackson 5 member in the 70's .They were like a Black royal family. I have many positive memories about the man even though Prince was my favorite. So yes I wanted the news about him so I could get my mind together.

Its a very sad day. I think its odd that yesterday was the 25th anniversary or Purple Rain and now mjs death. I guess we should celebrate and mourn 2 very great musical geniuses. I only hope that Micheal can now find peace.

But was the report true? I think so, so while this is not the time to be patting anyone on the back for being 1st, it wasn't like Dr FB was wrong in the report. It doesn't even matter really, what matters is that MJ is gone and it's a terrible loss. Pure and simple.

So I posted in the Non-Prince forum yesterday before confirmation of Mike's death. As I said, it's sad. He made music I liked and music I didn't like nothing has changed now that he has passed away.

I will say that while I was not a die hard MJ fan I was disappointed in CNN and MSNBC for focusing on his trial from 4 or 5 years ago while waiting on updates on his condition and less on his musical career. I thought that was rather sensationalist and tacky.

As far as tributes and statements from other industry people about his passing, the only ones (other than MJ's own family) that I feel are relevant are Quincy Jones, Liz Taylor, and maybe a Sony rep. Other than that if people want to give statements fine, but I just don't think anyone should feel obligated to do so. And I hope that folks are not putting out statements just to say they "said something".

Michael Jackson no longer has to deal with his demons, his pain and utter loneliness, He was larger than life with his music and now his life has come to an end. Prayers go out to Michael Jackson and his family. Special prayers go out to his dear mother Katherine who's pain must be unimaginable, having to see her son pass on before her like this.

God have mercy.

Such a great talent that died before his time. Michael Jackson still had a lot to give us musically. He will be missed.
