First RIP Michael, second thoughts go to his family and third as Prince fans we all enjoyed the banter with MJ fans over the years, but with his passing today I feel that some part of my youth died too, in a funny way it was like a major part of the 80s has gone. I look back at being 17 years old and feeling so great about Billie Jean and then to feel fantastic about little red corvette and the year after picking sides once Purple rain was released.

Whatever the rivalry and views, Micahel Jackson was one of a few people in music that was an icon who revolutionised an art form and we should all resolve to make the most of Prince while we have him.

I've always been incredibly critical of MJ's personal choices but this is definitely a sad day for the world of music.

My thoughts are with the people who loved him.

I've been near tears since 3:20.

When I was 11/12 Michael was my whole world. The tragedies of his life don't diminish the fact that he was a legendary performer and a great artist. That's how I choose to hold him in my mind.

I remeber living in Fond du Lac Minnesota when I was 11. Thriller was the first record I had ever bought with my own money. I secretly stayed up past my bedtime to watch the 25th anniversary Motown special. When Michael cam on and did the moonwalk, I lost my shit completely. It was soo exciting!

OK, now I am crying...

I cut my cell phone on 2 check msgs. & I get 2 text msgs. with the news. I sit about 5-10 min. before I can no longer hold it in, I check CNN 2 see if this is a joke & it wasn't. My 3-yr. old twin boys think i'm joking & both abrutly stop what they're doing & just watch as show emotion, something they had never seen before. They aske what's wrong & I tell them Michael Jackson has died. About 3 weeks ago one of them is in the back seat saying his name out loud & I was shocked as I never really played his music around them with the exception of Streetwalker. Michael no matter what I will always love you as a person & entertainer/vocalist sad sad sad .

Can we now put the MJ vs. Prince game 2 bed people!!!!!

I was hoping it was one of those disgusting, exaggerated news stories. They're always saying how sick he is, I'm sure they've said he's died more than once.
So when it really happens, and you're just sitting there, half waving it off and BS and half praying they're lying, it's a lot worse when you find out it's true.
I was pretty jaded to news about Mike. So I really disregarded the news when I first heard it. Then I was thinking, it wasn't that bad. And then I was told he died. And I don't even know what the point of my statement is right now.
Its still sinking in and I'm sad.
