PRINCE / MJ...WHO'S THE BETTER VOCALIST ON BALLADS?...YEAH HERE WE GO AGAIN! In my OPINION, MJ has a more appealing(if not better) vocals on his ballads than Prince...Prince brings range and raw emotions and witty lyrics to the table...but MJs vocals just seem to shine way more and just jumps out and grab your attention.
i know, I know this is treason...got to put on my bullet proof vest now : ) BRING IT ON!!! lets hear you opinions? pick a song (judging on vocals only) 1. she's out of my life vs sometimes it snows in april? 2. I just cant stop loving you vs adore? 3. human nature vs the beautiful ones ? 4. man in the mirror vs the cross? 5. dont stop till u get enough vs i wanna b your lover? 6 ben vs diamonds & pearls p.s I just couldnt find a MJ song to pair with Prince's "DAMN U", oh well... hardly an MJ fan but i have to admit that imho vocally he is/was better than Prince. Prince is a much better performer though....amazing showmanship. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

[Edited 6/23/09 7:14am] Exactly how I feel, How can Michael treat his fans better when he played out well before his time. What presence? He doesn't make music anymore, backsliding and spinning is played out. Kickin' his leg up with the one glove and the Colonel Sanders taselled jackets is played. All the things that Mike has done to himself and his career (with the kids) makes it hard to listen to his music again. It's almost like meeting a beautiful girl and then finding out she has the most screwed up attitude you ever experienced. She may be pretty but the words still come out ugly. | |

Prince's voice makes me cringe at times...i guess i was drawn to him for his lyrics and killer, innovative beats and badass guitar works. Not a MJ fan, never was, but he has very distinct vocals that no one to my knowledge ever second guess like how alot of people would differ in opinion when it comes to Prince's voice... just hate the vocals on these... nothing compares to you. shhh scandalous (love the song though) tic tic bang most beautiful girl in the world my name is prince (like a screaching train) endorphined machine just to name a few... Now i know many MJ songs that i dont care for, but i just cant find one that i can label as horrible vocal arrangement...call him a one trick pony vocally but he alway shines vocally. | |

Your original question was concerning a vocal comparison. Usher, Chris Brown, and Timberlake have similar vocal deliveries as MJ. Prince = James Brown with a crisp delivery and 5x the vocal range Prince = Elvis Presley with the ability to captivate, without singing 1 note Prince = George Clinton, with 5x the style Prince = Little Richard, with a unique, Purple masculine edge Prince = Jimi Hendrix, evolved.... Prince is the Incredible Hulk of Music. Embodying the 'musical strength' of 10 men and women, bound and wound tightly, in 1 tidy package..... And as for MJ not having a voice anymore is also funny. Listen to Butterflies. That song is better than anything ballad Prince put out in years.Some people think I'm kinda cute
