Knowing how many musicians Prince knows personally, he might have been on to something. But if Letterman hasn't made a joke about it by now, he doesn't care.

David Letterman is losing viewers fast becasue of that Palin joke. He's got bigger problems than cheesy stuff that Prince did.

I think that stage was originally 4 Bria 2 come out n sing but she chickend out at d last minute so Prince had 2 sing an old song n d plase of her - I think Prince was supposed 2 act like a patronage and then get up 2 act like he was paintn something and then write "even Prince loves JL..."

I don't get the joke though.
Can somebody break down the premise of the joke? Is it that Paul is letterman's band leader, and that means he's competition? And the joke is that even the competition likes Leno?

I don't get it. Is there bad blood between Paul and Letterman or Paul and Leno? Someone break it down. I know it won't be funny in the end, but I'd still like to understand the premise of the joke.
