1) i understand he wanted 2 showcase what paisley park studios could do 4 as a soundstage etc. but in this movie it should have been just used 4 the musical numbers which should have all been done from the stage and not just anywhere. if it's going 2 b a musical, b a musical, it's going 2 b from the stage, let it all b from the stage

2) develop more of mavis's character, she runs a gospel club. well how more fitting could it have been 2 have the kid and melody cool do the song god is alive 2 fit the spirtual aspect the kid was trying 2 say.

3) do not have shake and tick tick bang represent the battle between the kid and morris cause unlike the kid, at least morris was present at the battle 2 c which show/song would b better. the song the latest fashion clearly stands as a battle piece and more effectively presents the tension between glam slam and pandemonium

4) SPEAKING OF WHICH ..alright who else scratched their heads wondering y levi and miko where out of breath from just running across the street 2 the back alley of glam slam when pandemonium club WAS JUST ACROSS THE FUCKING STREET? this leads in2 set design and location. the problem i always have with this film is that it's 2 claustrophobic. when the montage sequence shows outside scenes u wonder OH THERE IS THE SUN!!! so less having the sets look like the sun doesn't exist

5) scratch out tc ellis!!! or make him one of the gameboyz anything more than "yo kid i told u should have let me rap!" either make george clinton a part of the film or don't. tell robin power that this ain't south central LA it's minnepolis.

6) space...more dialogue between songs please

7) put back in can't stop this feeling i got,

8) theives in the temple..okay in the complex of the film, guess what? less is more..the whole following morris around in a car makes no sense!!! just leave the whole video shot as is would have been better

9) somebody teach these fools how 2 play hangman

10) and if aura dies and the ambulance comes..please make sure they stick around longer than 20 seconds. in fact y should people care about that aura got run over if she never truly interacted with the community at all? make ur audience/community in the film give a damn that she got runned over.

Thank you! it's not like the audience (or even myself for that matter) ever had any real emotional conection with this woman, who wrote horrible poetry. In fact, I was kind of glad she was dead, one less person to worry about. And remember how after she died they started playing that annoying, crappy song ironically named "Graffiti Bridge", which I always thought it was a methaphor to this movie.

yep. i think everybody had some really good ideas for improvement. Princey ought to listen to the fans more. I mean yeah, he thinks he knows it all but if you're making something for someone else, try asking them what they would like first.

I actually wrote a similar script with Apples being turned out by the mob (gangsta bitch), Vanity returning as Prince's lost love, and instead of Billy getting killed by the mob, the mob had a hold of Morris and he needed money to get out so he called the kid to help him put on a spanking ass show to help raise the money he owed the mob. It got rejected sigh

For those who take the question seriously, I think the basic story could have worked if they really made it a sequel to Purple Rain. What they did was ake a surreal fantasy movie that was considered the followup to a film that was just the opposite. Purple Rain had a true to life, rock n roll reality about it that took you to the city where those characters lived. The disturbed domestic situation, a suicide attempt, realtionship issues, career pressures - it was all there to make it seem like a reality. Nothing about GB is even remotely associated with reality. The set doesnt even look like you are in the eral world. It is like some kind of funky dreamworld that seems to revolve around partying in nightclubs. You dont even see anything from the rea world: no warehouse studios, no city traffic jams, no back alley behinds nightclubs, no old apartments, dingy hotel rooms, or basements with manniquin faces and eyes painted on the wall. The intention was to take us to some fantasy world. Right there, they lost most of the viewers. After the failure of Under the Cherry Moon - commercial failure I should say because I feel that film took far more of a beating than it deserved - people needed to see a sequel to Purple Rain and that is what hey expected when the Kid, Morris, and Jill show up. (Ever notice how the sudden appearance of Jam, Lewis, and Monte in place of Jerry, Mark, and Paul is never dealt with?).

The angel or whatever Ingrid Chavez was supposed to be would have to go. They would have to make her a real chick - maybe the new love interest who replaces Apollonia. George and Mavis coudl have been REAL club owners - or maybe make Mavis the owner of some other kind of business that the Time was shaking down. And the Time came off as gangsters who played musc on the side with Morris as the mob boss. Even though it was all tongue in cheek most of the time as the screenwriters tried to exploit the comedic vibe between Morris and Jerome, it just didnt work no matter how much you loved them.

The music is there - just in UTCM. Only this time, I think it got drowned out by the thud that the movie made.

It was too much to ask the average movie goer to accept - especially those who were not Prince fanatics.

Yeah, let's have Morris and The Kid on the same side this time. The whole "battle of the bands" thing has been done before. That's one of the major problems with GB....Prince tried to repeat the same plot elements of the first film. The Kid and his band battling The Time. The Kid and Morris both fighting over the same lady, who just happens to be a Latina chick (surprise, surprise, lol).

The mother of Morris' son? hmmm Let me think about this.We could create a cool sub-plot out of this.

It erased all the goodwill from Purple Rain story. It was touted as a sequel of sorts but no Apps, no Revolution, and the mainnnn thing: Morris and Prince going at it with each other again.

Last I remember, Morris was in the First Avenue crowd jumpin up and down to Baby Im A Star.

But the daddy issues remain rolleyes

The part where he writes letters to his father was wtfish! What I hated the most about Purple Rain is when Prince deicated the song Purple Rain to his father, it's like he forgot what that asshole did to him and his mother, or was that dued to plot holes? Seriously I never understood that. rolleyes

Seriously I never understood that. rolleyes

Ya know, I never even considered that fact.

Which is probably why PR was a melancholic trip to me, subliminally and obviously. I felt no celebration after waiting for this movie for a year and ahlf. I left thwe theater in a funk while my cohorts were all excited and jabbering.

I just witessed females being hit, one thrown in a dumpster, and Prince not even speaking a full sentence to his mother. More like "Ma's." Prince clearly has father issues in true life but damn, so blatant. The mother is damn near non existent in Rain.

Frncis L smacking Prince and beating his mom. Pre Suge Knight-ish.

And then dedicating a song Wendy and Lisa supposedly wrote to his wife beating father? Oh the blapshemy, irony or whatever fuckedupedness you want to call it lol

No wonder Prince has nothing to do with the film nowdays.

He should have not only dedicate the song to Wendy and Lisa, he should have also dedciate it to Apollonia as an apology, It should have when like this "I would like to dedicate this song to Wendy and Lisa sorry for being an ass, and I would also like to dedicate this song to Apollonia, the girl I slapped, made her jump in the lake and also not let you have a sing career" cry .

I never really had a problem with Graffiti Bridge. I only wish it connected a little more with Purple Rain. I still like the film. I like that the film had a dream like feeling and sprituality.

It was kind of "oh daddy you had all these great songs. who knew you were such a wonderful musician and we had so much in common. I forgive you for all your ass whoopings"

Prince-"Dued to poor plot holes, I would like to dedicate this song to my father despite the fact that you beat me and my mama for only God knows how long, and later in life you'll be haunting me in my dreams wanting for me to die and join you in Hell and forcing me to write letters to even though you're dead."

Audience-..... eek
