Did Prince write Dirty Diana for Michael Jackson? My friend insists and I say no. So help us out I would like to win this bet
Dirty Diana sounds very much like something Prince would compose, but he I don't think he wrote it.

Bad boy (Ithink that is his name) will hopefully show up to clear this one up. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

I read that MJ wrote it,and that it was about an aggressive groupie.

According to the Library of Congress...Michael Jackson wrote it!
According to Quincy Jones who produced it...it was about "groupies"! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Umm....No.
"Dirty Diana" was written/arranged/composed by Michael Jackson. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Yeah, Quincy Jones confirmed that it is a "groupie song" during an interview on the Special Edition of "Bad" CD. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Of course not. MJ is a song writer too you know. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

this is a wise way to sneak in a little Michael Jackson in the Prince forum?
I thought MJ posts should go here: http://prince.org/msg/8/309751 [Edited 6/14/09 21:48pm] Prince 4Ever.

I don't believe MJ has ever written a song in his life, like Elvis was always a co-writer but never wrote a song

No, he's written many songs by himself songs where he has co-written like That's What You Get For Being Polite, Lovely One, and Be Not Always, he'd have the lyrics down and then he'd collaborate with the co-writer (in these cases, his brothers) to compose the melody you should check out the book "For The Record" "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

According to Quincy Jones who produced it...it was about "groupies"! Yep, he originally wrote it in 1983 along with Liberian Girl but then rewrote it the following year. He then slightly reworked the 1983 version in '85 for Bad. The final version was recorded in late 1986 "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

No, but he played funk guitar on 'Speed Demon'.

Good idea for Michael to pass on it, considering the line 'Wouldn't u love 2 love me, BABY..'

Good idea for Michael to pass on it, considering the line 'Wouldn't u love 2 love me, BABY..' It was an alternatate lyric version - "Wouldn't you love to love me little boy?"
