Bass on Leno My tv did not pick up much bass. Anyone with a good sound system connected with their television want to comment on the bass? There is a really good bass line on ONAL Everlasting, was it the same on Leno? | |

Well... I can say that I've listened to the Leno performance about 6 or 7 times now on my stereo through my headphones and I think the best description is that "the funk is multilayered". The bass is right where it needs to be. The arrangemet of The Everlasting Now as played on Leno is superior to the ONA Live version (in my opinion). The band is so incredibly tight that every part and every instrumentation fits together perfectly. Like I've said, I've been listening to this performance on my headphones over and over, and from a musicianship standpoint, it has to be one of the most perfect one-song TV performances Prince has EVER done. It's so perfect that it almost sounds recorded, but I know it's not. But... back to the bass... just as everything else in this particular performance it's perfect. As you know, the way Everlasting Now was written, the parts sort of interlock and the bass feeds off of the drumming which extends into the guitar, keyboards and horns with the final product being "multilayered funk". So yes, the bass playing is on point, but again so was everything else in that performance. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
