Did Prince write Dirty Diana for Michael Jackson?

My friend insists and I say no. So help us out I would like to win this bet wink

Dirty Diana sounds very much like something Prince would compose, but he I don't think he wrote it.

I thought MJ wrote that song himself and Diana Ross was his muse.

I could be wrong. Bad boy (Ithink that is his name) will hopefully show up to clear this one up.

According to the Library of Congress...Michael Jackson wrote it!

According to Quincy Jones who produced it...it was about "groupies"!

Yeah, Quincy Jones confirmed that it is a "groupie song" during an interview on the Special Edition of "Bad" CD.

Prince's name is in the tittle. It's about Prince mainly. So why not put in the Prince forum.

I don't believe MJ has ever written a song in his life, like Elvis was always a co-writer but never wrote a song

No, he's written many songs by himself

songs where he has co-written like That's What You Get For Being Polite, Lovely One, and Be Not Always, he'd have the lyrics down and then he'd collaborate with the co-writer (in these cases, his brothers) to compose the melody

you should check out the book "For The Record"

Yep, he originally wrote it in 1983 along with Liberian Girl but then rewrote it the following year. He then slightly reworked the 1983 version in '85 for Bad. The final version was recorded in late 1986

No,Prince did not write this song but he did submit a song ("Wouldn't U Love 2 Love Me") for MJ to record for 'Bad'.MJ rejected it and it was given to Taja Sevelle instead.

Good idea for Michael to pass on it, considering the line 'Wouldn't u love 2 love me, BABY..'
