I Got hold of this song called 'Love... Thy Will Be Done' has anyone else herd this? Only coz I havnt really seen orgers talking about it. Its a nice song useing the background music to 'One of Us'

"Love ...Thy Will Be Done," is a beautiful song, I thing I've only heard this song on "Yellow," and it wasn't the best recording of it although it is very enchanting with committment.

It's from 'Martika's kitchen'. It's alright, I used to like that album back in the day

The Sex of It was recorded by Kid Creole and the Coconuts and was definitely funky. Prince put his foot in that one. another track that his version would've probably been well received by the masses.

Same style as "one of us", but not the same track. Martika recorded a version, Prince has a version, and there's a rock version sung by Sonny T (which is my favorite).

perhaps his most beautiful song.

The video is ethereal, I've always loved it. Martika has a beatiful voice.

LOL! It's not using the background music of 'one of us', it's the other way around....but it's a really beautiful song....

I did something today that I love to do with this song (Prince's version) and haven't for a couple years because I wouldn't let myself.


I stood perfectly still in a corn field in Hawaii with a mountain on my left and the sea on my right and let this song wash over me for about 30 minutes on repeat and fill me up with God, Nature, Love, whatever you want to call it.


Haven't really given myself or that song a chance to do that in awhile. Haven't wanted to. The timing felt right.

Mmmm... "One of Us" is a Joan Osborne's song. When I first heard it I thought, damn, Prince could have written those lyrics ! And then 1-2 years later I found that song on Emancipation...

"Love... thy will be done" is very nice. I thought it came from "LoveSexy" era, sounding so much like "I wish U heaven". What is "Yellow" ?

And right Prince'voice floats in there.

Love Thy Will Be Done is a standout track which is getting more and more praise all the time, being somewhat overlooked since it was , if I remember correctly, in direct competition with Get Off in the charts..

I think Prince later realised he gave away a great song and then he decided to re-use the intro for his cover of One of Us, to great effect.

There is indeed a Prince version which is exactly the same as the Martika version and there is the rock version, which I think is inferior.

ALL in ALL a standout track and one of the absolute highlights of Prince's career



Oh and Yellow is one of those cd's we can talk about only. It is famous for containing a lot of real high quality outtakes (songwise, the sound was horrible) which on this release came into wide(r) circulation

I have always loved the version on Yellow - he seems to be really inspired by the project, and his songs for Martika are consistently strong. I've never heard Martika's version before - man, her vocal on this song is so lame compared to Prince's.

Yellow is a boot which has I Wonder, Player, Open Book, the Martika tracks, Uh Huh! Carmen Elektra outtakes and a few others, nothing thats's not on The Work and not as good quality, Love.....Thy Will Be Done is probably my favourite Prince protege track, would love to hear a properly released version and the Sonny T version..... Dayum!!! is that P on guitar on this version and where was it recorded on what tour?
