In a press conference around 2000/1 (I think) P was asked who would win in a fist fight - him or MJ. He then goes on to say something about "what MJ might know..." and some other puzzling shit like that.

Anyone have a clue what he was talking about or know the context of his comments?

Anyways, I think you're referring to the plant from Howard Stern's show sneeking into one of Prince's post name-change press conferences. The guy asked if who would win during a fight between him and MJ.

Prince then responded, "Micheal's a lover--not a fighter." ( quote from MJ's own words in the song "The Girl is Mine")

I think the guy was escorted out after asking some terse question about why he acted like such a sissy in Purple Rain or something to that affect.

Being a child of the 80's I loved them both. My thing is not P v's MJ but knowing what they really think of each other as musical pioneers, in a mutual respect type of way. There's a kind of archetypal rivarly here. All we really get is the outside nonsense. What's happening on the inside? P is a heavily influenced musician who respects and admires talent. There's no reference to their opinion of each other in terms of musical appreciation and admiration.
