Mark said to play it off, P kicked Mark and then pushed him into the drum riser.
That's what I'm thinking of.

I would say that this is from the PR tour because I can tell from the way P is dressed, his hair, etc. I saw another pic of P playing Sheila E.'s percussions dressed in the same exact outfit. The bass P is playing in this pic is Mark's. Mark used this bass on the PR tour. On the 3 shows that I went to on the PR tour, P never picked up Mark's bass or any other bass during those shows. P played guitar, piano and sung and did his usual acrobatics. Mark was the ONLY cat playing bass on the shows that I saw. My guess is that perhaps this was an encore where the band was jamming. On the third PR show that I saw, at the end of the song Purple Rain, the house lights came on and the band played America. This of course was before the release of ATWIAD so none of us had ever heard the song. They jammed on this for at least 10 minutes. P and the band were singing the song and after the second choruses, they just started jamming on top of it. P was soloing on his axe here and there, Matt took a solo and they just jammed on top of the groove untill P threw up his hand to bring it to an end. Then they walked off and that was the end of the concert. So perhaps this pic is from an encore to a different PR show. Thanks for the heads up !

I'm almost sure he performed it on the Hit N Run tour at a couple of shows. I can hear a live version in my head, but maybe I'm imaging that. HOpefully someone can clear that up. It's surely in the back of DMSR, under the Tour section. I overlooked this post Thanks again [Edited 6/8/09 0:44am]

It happened to me once when I was dancing, only 2 of us on the whole stage... we came on from opposite ends and had to cross each other in the middle, only momentarily we both forgot whether to cross in front or behind so ... CRASH .. not sexy, very embarrassing....

Yup. I think it's either a Guild or Ibanez. "He's a musician's musician..."

Yup. I think it's either a Guild or Ibanez. Thanks for that detail. At first i thought the end of the neck looked like an Alembic, but without the trademark bodywork. [Edited 6/9/09 10:03am]

the only possible tunes or situations these pics were taking:
jamming on baby i'm a star and this can b verified that sheila often came back on stage with the whole band and her own during baby i'm a star. so another picture with prince with this same coat on with drumsticks and congas can b associated with this or america which the same scenario xisted or taken from a soundcheck man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The purple Rain show I saw in SF was the same...I did not see Prince play Bass, only Guitar, Piano, sing and dance....he did Raspberry Beret (again before ATWIAD was released) instead of America but it was during the show, not for an encore. "Always blessings, never losses......"

Prince used the bass on a few of the very long Baby I'm a Star jams. He played Sheila's percussion on a lot of nights and played drums once.
Venus De Milo was not played on the Purple Rain tour, but Raspberry Beret, Temptation, Condition of the heart, 4 the tears in your eyes, America, Under The Cherry Moon and an Honest Man all featured, be it in short versions, speeches or instrumental. The dance electric was played at least a couple of times on the hit n run tour. featured in the encores once and was on the list of rotation throughout the tour along with 17 Days, Mutiny and A love Bizarre. .

Don´t know but that is for sure Wendy´s coat in this picture. She used to wear this during the Purple Rain tour. Prince played a piano version of Noon Rendezvous in 1985 in some hotel, maybe that´s the show you are referring to ? Could anyone please post that pic of him playing congas during this show ? I can´t find it right now. Same coat as in the pic above, the only difference being that he´s playing the congas. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
