Why Do U Like Prince (Gentleman Only Reply) This Thread Maybe Kinda Lame or Cool, depends on how you look at it.
So What's Your Response? 1. The Music 2. Live Performances

Why did I used to like Prince and why I kinda not so much anymore are two separate things. I first got into listening to him when Little Red Corvette came out, then Purple Rain hooked me because of his musical genius and his brazen non-conformist attitude. After he converted to JW his muse (IMO) seemed to have left him and he has put out a lot of mediocre music after the year 2000, and to me it seems to get more and more mundane, so i don't like Prince as much now as I did before. I listen mainly to his old stuff. (this is my perrogative, for those who may flame me).

the pure raw tallent of the guy
the simple fact he writes amazing songs an has so many classics he is like the one man lennon/macartney .. but has outdone them an continues to add to it with new exciting songs .. never been a borring artist the funk/rock/pop/soul vibe that is on all his songs .. he has a vibe of his own which is original an something only he can do musically . nomatter how some may copy ... all his songs have a PRINCE SOUND .. nomatter what style of music he is doing ... u can tell its prince also the guy himself is a big part .. he is an amazing performer but also a guy who is always intersting to watch an hear . no matter what he is doing, saying or singing .. he has a hypnotic vibe .. which draws you to him an is someone worthy of respect an very smart an not afraid to be different .. whenever i want to hear some new music ...i make some - prince '99'

As a Gay teenager back in the early 80's, Prince was the closest thing to being Gay and cool all at the same time. More importantly was his musicianship and his abilty to intrigue me on so many levels. I was always analizing his lyrics, the double entendres, and how he was so enigmatic and electrifying at the same time. If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

As I have said many times b4... Show me someone better, I mean OK, U might find someone who's a better singer, a better keyboard player or even a better guitarist but I'm talking the whole package. Show me someone better, point 2 them and I'll go be a fan of theirs 2 but I'm willing 2 bet that U can't.
Prince is the ultimate rock/funk/pop star, he has the look, the style, the arrogance and the skill 2 back it up and throughout his career he is practically faultless. Prince's musical integrity is impeccable and in a 30 year career at the very top of his profession that is one hell of an achievement. . [Edited 6/6/09 17:31pm]

1.) everyone 2 some degree lives vicariously through a rock star or actor
2.) in the 80's Prince created a world via Uptown Erotic City Paisley Park there was more to Prince than just being a musician and he pulled me into this world of Prince the Revolution, the Time, Sheila E the Family Jill Jones Vanity 6, it was almost like being a star wars fan 3.) the rebellious undercurrent to the music, it was kinda urban-city life, night life, living how you wanted to live and in my teens that's what I wanted

Cause i love music of all genres and Prince covers them all in a way that's always creative, surprising and top notch. Unpredictable, keeps you guessing and always delivers IN SPITE of his own bitch and moan fans, chart success or lack of it. An underappreciated musical Picasso that i'm glad to have seen emerge, grow, reach superstardom, maintain it, and still be head and shoulders above his peers 20 years after his "commercial peak"
