The Box

Anyone remember a TV video network called The Box in the mid 90's? You could call a number (that would charge you a couple of bucks), and put in a 3 digit number for any particular video they had in rotation.

As you entered your video number, it would actually show up on the TV screen near the bottom in a "scroll" box. When your turn came next in the video cue, your video would play. It was a virtual jukebox. Very "onDemand", back in the day.

I used to call and request "Gold" over and over. I was just trying to get a clean copy on VHS of it. haha I forget what else they played, but I played "Gold" A LOT. I'm sure other viewers were tired of seeing it.

Sho 'nuff I do remember it! I really enjoyed it, too bad it's not there anymore, it was a clever thing, which is rare on TV nowadays.

I used to order Gold and TMBGITW quite a bit (until my cable bill got too expensive).

Yep, I remember being all about the box for (I think) the latter half of 1997. The only Prince video I recall seeing on there was "Face Down" and I remember multiple requests for that one as well as "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground and "Kiss The Rain" by Billie Myers. Damn, haven't thought of that time (or the roommates I had then!) in quite awhile..
