i forced my self to listen to it 3 months ago i didnt get past the first 4 min. i just liked the beat,so this morning was a cloudy boring day so i turned my psp on an i strolled to the a's i saw Automatic i said "what the heck" i pressed it the beat came on i start vibing.then i heard him say "you ask me if u love you/its automatic" i loved it so now i just listen to the first 5 min.

This is one of my favourites. It was one of the songs that first got me into Prince. I really liked the video too, has a real cold feel about it.

Great sound effects in it too.

it's too bad that you don't like the last few minutes of it, because that's where all the action happens - and then there's that funky guitar solo.

I loved this song the first time I heard it.

I remember the profound affect it had on me when I first heard it.
I was at a shopping mall and heard 1999, so I saved my allowance for a few weeks (months) so I could buy the album. I brought it and carried it home under my arm thinking and humming 1999, LRC. And thinking "Pop music, pop music, pop music"

Then when I put it on I got to automatic, and as I listened to it something in me changed, inside me something was altered forever. The weirdness and intensity, I loved it and wanted it in everything i listened to. Pop music on the radio wasnt going to cut it anymore.

One of his masterworks for sure.

Automatic is a gem . What caught my ear me was the new wave sound of it. The first time I heard a black artist in that vein.

It's very surreal & the keyboards have a way of just washing over ya'. I have to hear this right now, good thread.
