Prince and Mayte Music?

Do u think if they were still together today, we would be listerning to diffrent music by Prince?

Do u think any of the albums that we have now, wouldnt be there if they would be together today?

I think if they were still happily married, we probably would not have had the new NPGMC-era downloads or The Chocolate Invasion/Slaughterhouse. I think those songs were a result of a "secluded" Prince, where for several years it seemed that he was in hiding.

We might still have had New Power Soul, since Mayte and the Grahams were friends at the time, but I doubt it.

I also think that if she was around in 1999, we probably wouldn't have the God-awful 1999: The New Master. Instead, I think we would've had more of a "remix" EP and true public appearances capitalizing on his trademark song in its year.

We should start a bring back Mayte campaign. I always thought Prince was better with her, he was funkier, badder and more dangerous than he has ever been since.

We wouldn't have Rave the way we know it, because a lot of that was a kiss off to her. If the baby was still alive, we wouldn't even have "Comeback". IF IF IF IF IF IF IF

But no, we wouldn't have schlock like Musicology, probably.

Really intresting ? but I can't really answer it because I don't live in the past. No1 will ever know the what if's...stuff like this will make one go insane. Who's to say that if it didn't end then it wouldn't have ended later who knows....just be happy with what we have today.

SHE gets better with time. Period. love

Back then, his music was as beautiful as her. Nowadays it still kicks ass, but with her he was just even more special. shrug

Its interesting, but i wonder how many people have mistaken a soul relative
as a soul mate,

Prince had lots of synchronicity around Mayte if one of
the other articles around here is true. and as you read that article it
just screams warning warning. relatives in proximity approaching..
....danger will robinson,,, danger,,, lol

and life goes on.

Children of the Sun is a blast a real blast of music
and it was one of his most creative times with alot more
positivity floating round in amongst all the other stuff
going on, so yeah. I'd be interested to see another good
blast of something.

Maybe Dayclear can shed more light..
coz my rocket science is as good as
my bullshit. lol and i call smell
a cousin a mile away. lol

Mayte is beautiful. She seemed genuinely sweet, despite the theatrics put on her. She did play along, but somewhere in there you can sense a very real and beautiful girl IMHO.

I always thought she was either too "normal" and genuinely sweet for Prince's taste, or that she found herself being too young to be a mother and "belonging" to someone the way Prince wanted her to belong to him, so that she actually turned out to be the wild one Prince couldn't trust anymore, as she might have given him the feeling of being able to quit him any day. And when they both found out they had rushed some things it was too late already...

She was with him from a waaay early age, so I'm doubt she had even 'sown her wild oats' before he came along. It would be hard to be married to Prince anyway, I'm sure, but to be married to him and not have even experienced a great deal of basic life stuff must have made it even harder.

Its funny coz when I listern to Prince's songs when he was with Mayte, its sounds so more...um...love and sex, and he means it.

I listern to his stuff now and it sounds like somethings missing....Mayte could be it...

But its very strange how it all changes, more things then one I guess.

Prince is a man that has what he wants...when he wants it...There is your answer.

I am sorry for anyone's that has had a failed relationship, although Prince and I will never fail to be happy together...I'm just waiting for him to be through with his work. cool

When I saw these two on Oprah from way back in the day, he seemed a bit smothering towards her to me! I bet he was a handful. He was so in love he couldn't tell whether he was coming or going. It was pure sickening and mushy to watch! mushy I think he would have been happier with Mayte still apart of his life. I bet he be singing Marvin Gaye's distant lover secretly to her sometimes while nobody's around!

I liked that his music was emotional when he was with her, but I think if you really love someone you would not want to be with anyone else. Also imo Prince is very sensitive when it comes to love and would not want to give anyone that power to control his emotions. So I don't know how he defines love.
Also men love differently than women. Sorry I went off on a tangent there but yeah if they were truly in love they would have had to work on their relationship harder. If they did so, I think Prince would have written some beautiful ballads for her. Men aren't very vocal about their feelings, I like that Prince is.

Prince is a songwriter by profession. And, how representative his lyrics are of his real emotions is debatable.

I've yet to hear him write songs about juggling women, but there's plenty of evidence that -- despite his lyrics of being done wrong and of being all for fidelity -- he's juggled women with regularity.

I think I would enjoy his music better. My favorite post-Revolution albums are the ones when Mayte was in the picture. Emancipation, Gold, NPS.. the ones off the top of my head.

I loved the ballads and videos... Damn U, 18 and Over, Pussy Control...

Their performances was never matched by anything he did with the Twins, Tamar, and sorry, this latest lack luster CD ~~~~~(so far... I have had it 2 weeks, and only listened to the first one... haven't even WANTED to listen to #2, and #3... hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. pray

I wasn't even interested in Prince during his Mayte years... just discovered them years later... but I still loved that whole era.

I bet going the the Celebrations were a real treat... and getting the new CD was probably a gold star day for the Prince fan... touched

Prince and Mayte and the New Power Soul... WOW! love then tragedy struck... and then darkness descended on the Purple Kingdom... JW and Manuela Testolini.

boxed sorry, I just had to say it.
