u're gonna c me from mplsound can stand along as any prince classic.
it could be on purple rain album.
melody of the song is great and it have one of the most beautiful bridges prince ever done.
prince updated 2002 piano song from nice song to a classic.
i know some of you will maybe desagree because you think even prince shit from the 80's smells better then his today output but this song is realy realy good

It is a great version nod I love the production of this track and i prefer it to the ONA version.

It holds special meaning, too. Yeah you know who batting eyes

piano version is by far superior to the MPLSound version. And yes i consider it a top 10 song of Prince.

At this point, I still prefer the ONA version. Great song.

Sounds like something he did while screwing around with some new toys. I prefer the piano version. The mpls version has it's sweet spots, but I don't play it much.

Both versions are far from ‘classic’.

You might like the song (but on this site people like EVERY song !!)

It’s not going to be played in 10 years time next to any of Prince’s great songs.

I agree, though 'Better With Time' is better, (especially if you have a long-time partner and you're both hitting 40) so two classics on one album.

(and i bought an official version at last here in the UK, even if it was for 29.99!, but hey, somebody gifted me a voucher for £30. I wasn't handing over that much money myself. At least i'm legit, Prince will be pleased, little rip-off merchant.)

Yes, agreed. I have mentioned this in my post about Lotusflow3r being as good as anything released since 1996.

I however think this song is on par of anything he could have done in 88, like you could almost imagine it on Lovesexy.

I much prefer it to the piano version on ONA which I never really got into.

I also think Better With Time is a gem too.

Im glad to see he still has it in him to write amazing romantic ballads.

Me too. I'm not feeling the re-written version of this song on Mplsound at all. The original was MUCH better.

Well the original was a demo version, i'd guess Prince sees this new version as the finished article.

I like both.

The original was a demo? I never knew that. The new version, to me, was overdone too many keyboard effects, etc. I guess I like the unfinished simplicity of the original version. But I know not everybody is going to agree with me, which is perfectly okay.

The original wasn't a demo - it appeared on an album!

Yes. the whole ONA album songs were demo's. I've seen it mentioned on more than this site. Piano demo's, though i suppose you could argue the case if you want to. But i really can't be arsed.
