My take was that initially Camille was going to be a female unknown performer.

The Camille album was going to be released without a picture or bio to see if the music alone would make it a success, rather than have the release chart solely on Prince's name.

It would have been Prince's perfect protege, a female performer who would do exactly as she was told (tongue in cheek).

Once the album as a concept was scrapped, I think Prince decided to reclaim the character as his alter-ego and explore the duality that appeared in a lot of his music, the tension between the divine and the sexual.

Spooky Electric was said to be responsible for the dark, angry, sexual Black Album. This came about when the critics of Prince's work didn't get the picture and he lashed out and created the Black Album. After some thought he created Lovesexy and then scrapped the Black Album. Spooky Electric is mentioned on Positivity.

Interesting. I always think of Dirty Mind as a more dark, sexual album than the black album.

Prince seemed to be on a tear when he recorded those songs. The Lovesexy tour was always played in two parts the first half was all sex and bravado (Spooky Electric), the second half was about redemption and finding love and God. Dirty Mind and the songs on it all fit into the Black Album mold.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Was the Camille persona thought about pre SOTT?
I was always under the impression the first Camille track was If I Was Your Girlfriend and that was because the engineer buggered up but Prince liked the sound anyway.
Were Rebirth Of The Flesh and Goodlove considered "Camille" tracks by Prince or by his fans
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
