1999 promo record with him in his purple trench coat and it has 6 songs instead of 11 rare gem of mine or my money dnt matter 2 night holo promo The "money don't matter" & "diamonds and pearls" holographic Cds are great. Strange no one has done anything like that since. I know they are a bit gimmicky, but i like shiny things! That type of thing was usually reserved for promo cds. It was unusual at the time for an artist to do it on a massive scale like P did. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Edit: This is the one: [Edited 5/26/09 9:58am] you learn something new every day. in my 21 years of being a fan i had never heard of this radioshow. cool. Listen closely to the songs played, you'll hear overdubs in places done by Prince and, if I remember correctly, Levi. I remember Janet Jackson, INXS & Sly & The Family Stone tracks all having new elements like extra bass or keyboard parts, I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. This show featured a couple tracks never to be heard from again, I think from Cat & maybe T.C. Ellis. My favorite parts though are the "commercials" Prince made up, (they are hilarious!) and the "Take This Beat" part that riffs on sampling other people's records. It's a good show, worth hunting down the boot... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Just a quick question on the general view of fans. I have the original "The Undertaker" CD with the glue on the "playable" side and from the beginning I decided to not try to remove it, still having the chance to listen to it from another source and knowing that the process for remove it can damage the CD itself. Does it make it less valuable of a "glue removed" CD or being the actual thing it doesn't matter at all?!?!?!?!? Thanks. it depends do you plan to sell it? if so, let the buyer decide, leave it alone are you keeping it for yourself? then remove it! How else can you play it? Don't hate your neighbors. Was there a Prince convention in Minneapolis at the time of D&P? I went to the one at Glam Slam when was coming out. The entire NPG was there sans Prince. It was also Carmen Electra's first(?) public appearance. She was freaking gorgeous. I swear that I saw one of those paisley D&P wooden boxes at the NPG Store in Uptown, which cemented in my mind that it was official. Turns out it wasn't. hey SG, yeah....i know there was a convention of some sort. but i used to go to MPLS quite often back then and many of those trips just blur together. i will never forget the "Erotic City" room upstairs at Glam Slam tho. cuz that is where i danced with Ingrid Chavez. that is also the 1st and only time Prince ever said anything to me. he sorta just appeared behind us and looked at me and in a "stern/joking" voice said "How come yer not dancing?" grinned and then walked away. next thing i know, i was dancing with Ingrid (she even gave me a PP promo cassette with Heaven Must Be Near mixes on it.) they also had topless chicks roller skating around handing out photocopies of hand written poetry. my how things have changed in P-World since then! none of the poems had any author or signature. does anyone out there know any info on who wrote these? anyways, i definitely recall the O+> fest you speak of. Carmen's "unveiling" and picking up the 'Go-Go Dancer' 12" promo they sent out to strip clubs. for some reason, that is one of my favorite collectables. probably because of the unique way her 1st single was initially promoted.

Yes, that is the vinyl! yeah, i remember the glossy B&Ws she signed too. i have all of my "non listenable" collectables in storage, but i will work on digging out those poems. i always held on to them incase they were written by P. and back to that Diamonds & Pearls "paisley box." i know it is not official, but they certainly were on top of things getting it released close to, if not on the albums street date. like i said, i was in MPLS at the time and picked up the official CD at Northern Lights on the day of the release and 2 days later saw the paisley box at another store. i remember the clerk saying it was only available in MPLS (at the time.) could of been a BS sales pitch, cuz he also said they only had 2 left. that worked, cuz we couldnt afford em, but bought them both anyways. does anyone else remember the "D&P Convention" or have i truly lost my mind? i remember it being far smaller event than the following year. but...i do remember it.

Its only rare if you haven't got it or can't get it. I found it a lot harder to get hold of the Dirty Mind 5 track promo than 51 Hours, yet there were probably far more copies of the Dirty Mind promo printed. You also have to look out for very good fakes, particularly with the Black Album, MPLS single and the Gett Off Birthday promo. As far as super rares, I don't think a collection is complete until you have (for starters!)... 87 Black Album Vinyl For you test kit The Undertaker CD (either version) Peace CD single MPLS single Strange Tales His majesty's pop life Sexuality single LRC UK 12" (sealed with calender) DMSR 12" Soft & Wet 12" Promo ("dance mix") Black Album (grey vinyl) SOTT 12" remix acetate Housequake 12" remix acetate The vasace experience A gold or platinum disc or two! .
