Girls Will be Girls/ Good Body Every Evening

Does anyone have any info on these tracks? They sound like GB-era stuff with Mavis Staples singing. What is the extent of Prince's involvement? Are these songs his compositions? Any info on the line-up?

Thanks

They are 2 unreleased tracks from the shelved MC Flash project spanning late 1988-early 1990.

The vocalist is Margie Cox (the MC in MC Flash), but as with the majority of Prince material from the period, they are Prince compositions. Prince and Sheila are the musicians on the majority of the tracks, however Dr. Mambo's Combo (including Michael B) also make an appearance on the album. I believe Margie herself has stated that she was only responsible for having a hand in writing "We Can Hang" - the rest are Prince.

The album was shelved, but the following tracks exist.

Bed Of Roses
Brand New Boy
Curious Blue
Girls Will Be Girls
Good Body Every Evening
Good Man (Billy Franze voacls)
R U There?
Warden In The Prison Of Love
We Can Hang (1988 version)
We Can Hang (1991 version)
Whistlin' Kenny

From what I've heard (namely "Standing At The Altar"), Margie Cox had a great voice and looked pretty hot too (at the time) - shoulda gone on to be a successful solo act!

Well it wasn't a 'solo' career, but before hooking up with P. she had two albums with Ta Mara & The Seen, produced by Jesse Johnson - great records they are too, especially the first.
