He said he's working on a jazz project with some band members. He didn't say his next album would be a jazz album.

maybe it's the next "NPG" album.

I'd rather he team up and do a hard core rock album than jazz...

not the whole hard core rock album thing again rolleyes geez
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Jazz takes more skill than playing 4/4 time in an easy 4/4 band.
Pardon me but true... jazz is syncopated all over the place all the while, all instruments are singing their own songs and ending up on the same ONE.

Love Jazz
Love Ambience
and LOVE life!

Although, hang on: I would like to hear Prince put out a live jazz album that features covers of jazz classics or rearrangements of some of his hits. Something like Rachelle Ferrell's "First Instrument" or Al Jarreau's "Tenderness" albums, or a smokin' improvement on the Bob Belden album of jazzy Prince covers I bought years ago.

Give himself and the band some room to stretch out on familiar gems.

I would adore that!! I wish he would have thought of that before putting the bad taste of "The new Masters" in my mouth.
Shake....shake, shake, shake.

It doesn;t worry me. I loved madhouse 8 at the time, particularly the last track. I think Jazz is the least definable genre going, when someone says that P doesn't play jazz it makes me roll my eyes. Look at James Taylor Quartet-thats the most accessible sound ever and they are quite confident in calling it Jazz.
