The Batman-tracks were ommitted because of legal problems.
So if we had this third disc, we would miss the great B-Sides disc...wink

I think it would have been unlikely this would have been released because it would have taken all the best tracks from most of his albums, negating the need for people to buy his back catalogue.
B-sides was a good idea as most people did not have them.

I used those hits from this list that's not on the album and turned in2 a bonus disc. This would have been interesting 2 hear. Plus, I wonder: what one or 2 previously unreleased cuts would he had used on this disc?

I still think People would buy the back catalogue, because The Hits included the edited single versions, people would still want to have the full versions from the original albums wink

Thanks! biggrin

I ordered Controversy CD2, Pink Cashmere b/w Soft And Wet and the 5-inch Erotic City, Let's Go Crazy and When Doves Cry singles, because the 3-inches are annoying me. biggrin

I also ordered Wendy & Lisa: Are You My Baby and Satisfaction while I was at it, plus some Aerosmith and Marilyn Manson-singles, not to mention Janet Jackson: Miss You Much b/w You Need Me which I have been looking for for a long time so I can get rid of the 12". biggrin

Now, if I don't get all these singles, I will hold you personally responsible. wink

You could say the same about anyone's greatest hits sets.Although, IMO, there's no way that Prince's best material is represented by any of his best of's. Prince is one pop act who I've always thought had a pretty wide gap between the surface stuff that the general audience know and everything else.

lol Good score! Their prices have really become very reasonable. I had my eye on those Wendy and Lisa discs, too. I've bought many CD-Singles from them in the past and had no problems.

What a coincidence! I have been working on my own version of "The Hits 3" this week with a different track listing -- but I also started with "My Name Is Prince" and ended with "Batdance"!

The tracks on my collection are largely the same but I went a little bit deeper into the catalogue, including the edits of "Housequake," "Automatic," and "Let's Pretend We're Married" along with the LP versions of "Partyup" and "Sexy Dancer." (Some of those were not "hits," but neither were "Head" and "I Feel For You" on the original set.)

I also tried to remain true to the "2 new songs per disc" standard on "The Hits / The B-Sides" by including "Good Love" and "Just My Imagination (live)" along the way. I will post my full track listing when I get home.

I am having a lot of trouble locating the edit of "Scandalous"! Was it ever released on CD apart from the promo CD?

The hits were fine as it was. At the time I had no other Prince LPs or cassettes (yes I was still collecting those formats I even have Dr Dre's Chronic on LP lol) than Diamonds And Pearls, Symbol and Beautiful Experience (I consider that one as a maxi-single). I was shocked to discover how different was his music in the 80s and I was pleasantly surprised to discover all those missing hits when buying his 80s albums later on. A complete compilation would have spoiled all the fun of that.

I was surprised to see that " heart or $" didn't make the B-Sides disc. That song was way funky and I know a lot of us loved it.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
